Titer results

It has happened to me a couple of time in relation to rubella. I think I've gotten the vacine 3 times now. I don't hold the titer very well -- but the experts think I actually have the appropriate immunity.

I've been reading lately about the pertussis upswing. Apparantly a lot of us need those boosters!

I tested in the "moderate" immunity category for varicella titer even though my chicken pox infection was over 30 years ago. What DID happen to me is apparently I haven't made antibodies to Measles, though I have had the MMR vaccine FOUR TIMES!! 1973, 1978, 1991, 2006 ... and still no immunity, not even close to borderline. However, my Rubella and Mumps are so far gone off the charts it's unbelievable!

It is possibible and not uncommon for our immunity to fade over long periods of time, particularly if your initial infection was mild.

I had a similar experience, no immunity to measles despite 3 MMR vaccines. It is not necessary to take a combo MMR vaccine if all you lack is immunity to one of the components. My family practice doctor ordered a measles-only vaccine (had to be special-ordered from the drug company, as it is not commonly administered). At least I wasn't unnecessarily exposed to the other components of the MMR, and I finally developed an acceptable titer.

I start nursing school in January and I went to the doctor and found out that I didnt have any immunity to the chicken pox. Kinda weird I know but as a child I had never had chicken pox. Yeah i know you wonder how a kid never got chicken pox but luckily somehow i didnt. Anyways, I'm like you i had to get vaccinated for it myself. It's no biggie though

That's interesting b/c I asked my doc and he said they don't do just measles anymore. Maybe he wasn't aware that it can be special ordered. I am going to ask next visit. I had planned on not getting another MMR despite having no immunity to the measles and take my chances, but I like this route better. Thanks for the info!
