Tips for a new grad?

Hi everyone,

I'm a new grad with an associate degree in nursing. Took my nclex and am still waiting on results however, I would like some help with building my resume. As a new grad with no experience other than CNA work for a few years, I know it will be a challenge to find a job so if anyone could post any advice on resumes (format, font size, how long, what information to include, etc) that would be a great help.

I have a basic resume, but I'm not sure how to build it up.

What are some examples of good objectives?

What should be included in a cover letter?

Also, what is best to wear to an interview (I know a suit, but hair, shoes, etc)

nursing interviews are intense I hear so I want to be prepared.

    Ok so you have just asked many questions and I will try to answer as many as I can. 1st of all congrats on completing nursing school and welcome to the profession. I am fairly a new nurse with about 6 months experience as an RN. I just landed my dream job and had to relocate from NYC city in order to so. All hospitals want hospital based experience and to find a hospital that would take me was extremely hard. But I am proof that it is possible you just have to want it and apply apply apply.

    As far as resume goes your CNA background is excellent. Play that up a bit and add your clinical rotations experience as well. I went to a professional résumé writer and had an excellent resume created which I am sure impresses every recruiter I interview with. It is one page with a flap cover, sort of looks like a pamphlet. I get many comments on it.

    interviews are not hard if you relax and take your time to answer questions. I find the more honest and enthusiastic about the job the better it goes. Remember, these are smart people you are interviewing with so be honest and straight forward. Have confidence in your abilities, you worked hard for this moment right now. Tell yourself you are good enough and that any hospital would be lucky to have you. Staying positive on the job search is a must. Good Luck!!!
