  1. You will be fine :) look over your weak areas and do as many questions as you can! I passed my second time and went in all smiles ready to beat nclex and I did. You can too, it's just a computer! We are smarter than the computer;)
  2. Just found out today I passed nclex! Saw my name in BON and cried my eyes out- I did it! And the pop up is solo legit! Didn't get the pop up the first time and failed, got it this time and passed! I keep looking cuz it doesn't seem real! This long journey with my baby in belly and now 7 months is finally coming to an end and im ready for the next one to begin. Nurse mommy dream come true:nurse:
  3. Hi everyone, I'm a new grad with an associate degree in nursing. Took my nclex and am still waiting on results however, I would like some help with building my resume. As a new grad with no experience other than CNA work for a few years, I know it will be a challenge to find a job so if anyone could post any advice on resumes (format, font size, how long, what information to include, etc) that would be a great help. I have a basic resume, but I'm not sure how to build it up. What are some examples of good objectives? What should be included in a cover letter? Also, what is best to wear to an interview (I know a suit, but hair, shoes, etc) nursing interviews are intense I hear so I want to be prepared. Nursing interview questions and answer examples? Thanks so much.
  4. I took it the second time feb 13th and am also in Ca still waiting, this is torture. Got the pop up unlike last time but for some reason I'm still skeptical lol.
  5. Oh my goooooddddd! Thank you so much everyone! Is till can't believe it, I've been working so hard for this for so long and it seems like so many crazy things happened through nursing school it's a trip. I feel weird giving advice lol since I didn't pass my first time either but I can definitely share what I did this time around if it helps. first the details about the first time I took nclex- graduated september 2013, took nclex October 2013 my baby was barely 4 months when I took it i was still breastfeeding and up most of the night my studying was basically, do as many practice questions from the kaplan test prep as possible while baby napped. (Which wasn't long) got to about 139 and knew I failed....I had a gut feeling and cried for a long time. well it took over a month to get the dreaded letter. After I sent in my beloved permit and money to retest their system was apparently down for almost 3 months! So I was losing motivation. Got my AT&T and what not in January and immediately scheduled. Seriously like 4 months of waiting- ridiculous second time! so I emailed kaplan test prep and they sent me a study plan which I had to tailor to my life lol watch the videos... Well because I firmly believe it's learning how to answer questions properly I didn't watch the videos. Only the test taking workshop and decision tree which I also find useless since it appears to only apply to like one question. Maybe that's just me though i completed the qbank, each test was 50 questions on timed mode and I did 1-2 a day plus remediate right after and wrote down the stuff I got wrong so it would stick once I completed qbank I did the trainer tests. made a deal with my fiancé, I don't care when but once a day I need about 2 hours to study after completing the trainer tests I'd remediate those also met my goal of 65% on all but one. Which was definitely an improvement from my original scores when I took them in school. Honestly for me, it was teaching myself to think e nclex way, put myself in the perfect nursing world and think of what the book would say. Even if the answer sounded stupid to me which plenty did, I learned to pick out the ones nclex wanted me to pick and that was the hardest part in all this. You have the knowledge, it's just teaching your brain to identify priorities and ideal responses. Think - ABC - what's the one thing you would do before you clocked out? - what is the least harmful implementation - assess, diagnose, plan, implement - always always choose physio over psycho meaning pain unfortunately no one cares about (on nclex) unless it says severe then it is possibly correct - always use open ended questions -always choose responses that allow for further exploration of the clients thoughts or feelings -just review common labs I mean really just glance over them a bit here n there - don't bother with pharm just try to know basic side effects of common drugs like beta blockers, antidepressants, antipsychotics ya know the main ones. Just relax :) i made stress tea instead of coffee, listened to my fav music on the way and just smiled. If I got stuck and had to guess, I guessed and accepted that I'd really need to try n get the next one. I took one break, to use the restroom and breathe, read slowly to catch the "further teaching" questions and left with my head up thinking, hey worst comes to worse I can try again. I really hope this helps! and I really hope I can confirm soon this is killing me!
  6. Gah all these "congrats" r making me want to cry! As soon as I get confirmation I will post again :) but thank you! Seems to be true and I'm keeping my fingers crossed
  7. Woo! I sure hope you're right! It's funny, i was a frm believer of the pvt when I didn't get the pop up and thought life was over. Now when I do get it I'm skeptical! Yikes what a roller coaster ride. I wish I could see my name on the site already geez!
  8. Hi everyone, so I took my nclex again for the second time this morning. I felt prepared going in, I felt calm during the exam and tried to just breathe and use the knowledge I know that I have. Boy did I Havana ton of SATA! I mean one after another and that threw me off but the computer shut off at 101- my mouth dropped because i leaned in ready to answer the next question and boom there it went. I tried PVT when I got home. I got a poo up that said something along the lines of, "our records indicate that you have recently scheduled an exam.... Blah blah....please contact your board for further questions" i didnt get get this pop up the first time when i didn't pass but I'm still skeptical. im in Ca so it takes pretty darn long for results to pop up on the state board site so I'd like some input. Should I be excited or just stay neutral? Thank you! Yikes this is scary!
  9. Thanks so much. For some reason the ones that popped up on NCLEX just gave me instant anxiety and I panicked and forgot the basics.
  10. Ya thats pretty much it. Goudluck! Any word yet? If someone could help list it out that would really help me out. Like: Bradycardia: atropine Tachycardia: valsalva maneuver SVT: adenosine etc... Im able to recognize the rhythms but how do I know which drug is best to give first? And what rhythms can we cardiovert vs. shock. Anything helps! Thank you
  11. Thanks guys! I have been youtubing them but the way they popped up on nclex is hard to study for. I guess be able to recognize the rhythm, and how to treat it. The treatments are what i find confusing. Like what drugs for what rhythms and when to cardiovert vs shock...It seemed so easy in ACLS now it all seems so confusing! Does anyone know an easy way to remember this???
  12. Thank you! I will check that out now :)
  13. Hi everyone! Long story made short- I am retaking NLCEX in a couple weeks here and just remembered that I was lucky enough to have EKG on my previous test. Does anyone know a good website or anything that could help me with basics of EKG like basic rhythms and what drugs treat them? I need to feel confident in my EKG reading and treatment before I go in for round 2. My worst nightmare and I never thought it would be on the NCLEX...had more EKG than pharm WHAT THE HECK!? Thank you!
  14. What state are you in NurseBerter? Im in California. Im also retesting at the end of November. Well if they process my retake application and there is an opening available. It is rough though, I almost feel left behind like everyone is celebrating and going out for dinner and drinks and of course im not invited cuz that would be awkward but I always used to be...It sucks. Makes me want to pass even more. You're lucky you get 2-3 hours! I get 1-2 cuz of the baby I actually went to Kapaln so I have their onine review with question but I almost completed all the questions so Im trying to do a few a day so I dont run out. We can do this, you're right. Take a deep breath, focus and pass!
