I had my my interview today for a LTC facility. I have my orientation on Monday. The lady that interviewed me, mentioned " being able to take care of ten residents". I understand that this is done on a normal basis, but how is it possible without cutting corners? Or is it even possible?
Today I had 25 residents, 20 of them total dependence. We had 3 aids for 75 people, not counting our vent unit. And we have to at least half of them up and dressed before breakfast at 8. It was not possible. My facility is so disgustly understaffed on the weekends yet somehow overly staffed all week. For someone who always works sat. and sun. no matter what, it sucks major. I got all of my feeders up, and most of the others., but you can only physically do so much in so little time. Thank god for helpful nurses, althought they were short too
