Tips from you morning people! :/

Published

I've never been a morning person and I have 3 classes that start at 7am this term. Yea I know, I have to get use to it because many of my clinical will be even earlier and blah, blah.. I know this, however that doesn't not make me a morning person. I really really try to go to bed earlier, but that's not easy for me at all. I'd definitely be a good night shift person. Any tips? I'm really trying to stay as far away from coffee and energy drinks as possible. They give me headaches if I start drinking them and stop, even if it's just small amounts. Today was a little easy to wake up because I'm excited for the first one, but in a couple weeks I probably won't even hear the alarm in the morning (I use to make my parents REALLY made when I was in high school.. haha)..

I guess this is more of a vent because I'm frustrated with myself for not being able to wake up easily and be a nice and peppy. Ha. Well if anyone has any pointers, I'd greatly appreciate it. :)

Good morning!!!! hehe

I get up at 5:30 am every morning except on Thursdays (clinical days) when I get up at 4:30 am. My classes are not till 8 am or 9, but I wanted to get my body on a schedule to be able to just get up at around the same time every day. After 3 months of this, I have to say that I automatically wake up at 5:30 am now. I also bought some minty shampoo and conditioner--I forgot the brand, but it is in a small clear bottle and the shampoo is dark green and sold at any beauty salon. When you put it on your scalp, it actually tingles and wakes you up very quickly, and it seems to tingle your skin as it rinses off. I also play upbeat, party music in the shower and in the car on the way to school. I make decaff coffee at home the night before, then chill it in my fridge overnight so I have iced coffee to drink. If I still get a bit sleepy, I will pop a Altoid mint--those are really good at giving you a natural jolt!

Thanks everyone!! :) I'll definitely be trying a lot of these ideas! I've had two days so far of waking up at 5:30am and it hasn't been so horrible. I mean it's AWFUL getting out of bed, but once I'm actually up it's okay. Having the alarm clock across the room definitely helps & I've had all of my stuff ready to go at night, so I don't have to think about anything in the morning. And I LOVE subway breakfast, so that's been my treat. I know if I don't get out of the house by 6:20, I won't have time to get it. :p

I think I'm going to be okay, but the real test will be next week after I've had Thurs-Sun when I don't absolutely have to get up, but I'm going to try to get up early still!!

Thank you all again! I'm sure I'll need the advice throughout nursing school! HA. I can't even start to comprehend that there will be earlier mornings that 5:30!!!

Night everyone, I have another 5:30am alarm clock tomorrow.

for some reason, my BP drops real low early in the morning...so I am NOT a morning person as it xauses severe nausea for me...I'm about to start NS in Jan. So these tips are helpful...plus I low sleeping in and hate waking up early...always have. I always work evenings and nights so things will have to change.
