Time off (PTO) for full time vs. part time nurses

Published

Just trying to get an idea of sick days allowed per rolling calendar year for full time nurses vs. part time nurses.

Where you work how many sick days do you get per calendar year?

Is it a rolling year? (Call in February and that one doesn't drop off until February the following year) or a standard year? (you start fresh each year)

Are you full time or part time?

Where I work we get 2 PTO-U days per rolling calendar year and I'm part time. The third occurrence warrants a verbal warning, and so on down the discipline ladder. So what's your policy?

Thanks!!!

Unfortunately, I have a friend who had some serious health problems and was encouraged to "resign" before she was "terminated" for having 6 points so that she could be "rehired" in 6 months. This unfortunately made her ineligible for unemployment, and she was one of the best techs I have ever had the privelege of working with.

Ouch...I'm a firm believer in FMLA for situations like hers. This law was written for that purpose.

I know this is kind of an old thread, but I couldn't help but think that most of you guys have really good PTO packages! At my facility, vacations, sick time and holidays are all combined in the earned time bank. At my facility, ET accrual is as follows (for working 40 hours a week):

0-2 years :4.31 (per week)

3-4 years: 4.46 (per week)

5-6 years: 5.08 (per week)

7-8 years: 5.23 (per week)

9-11 years: 5.38 (per week)

12-14 years: 5.69 (per week)

15+ years: 6.00 (per week)

Extended illness is 16 hours per year.

I think FMLA should also include the rights of grandparents to do the grandparent and parent thing. To be there for our daughters and daughter in laws, and be supportive of them.

Well I think it depends on the exact number of hours worked. I work 48 in a two week period. I am allowed 12 hours unscheduled PTO a quarter. So that would be for me (4 days in a 12 month period.)
