Time management tips/ prioritizing tips

Part of time management comes with experience. That means you won't have it down pat until you've finished school and are actually working with patients. My tips for time management won't be as useful (ICU nurse) to a Med/Surg or Onc or Ortho nurse as tips from someone who is actually working in those areas. In general, try to consolidate your trips. If you're going to the med room to fetch a dose of pain medicine for Mrs. TKA, check her MAR to see if she has anything else due in the next hour. Is her IV bag going to run out in the next few hours, does she need a tubing change? Fetch everything at once.

A lot of time management has to do with prioritization as well. You will learn tips and timesavers from preceptors at your first job. Hopefully you'll get some responses here that we'll all learn from.
