Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Is anyone trying to get into the TCC nursing program for 2009/2010?

If all goes well, me!! I'm taking pre-req between TNCC and TCC right now.

Ah, yeah I am taking like, my only 2 (3 if you include SDV) pre-reqs. I'm so nervous about getting in!

I have to take all the sciences. But I have it mapped out that I can apply for next fall if nothing goes horribly wrong.

What 2 are you taking?

From what I am aware of, I have to have 2 out of 3 biology classes (choosing between BIO 141, 142, and 150) and have them completed before I apply. I am taking Bio 141 this semester and 142 next semester. Next semester I may also have to take the CPR class and some dumb math class if I can't pass the diagnostics test. I haven't had a real math class in forever (especially one that you can't use calculators), so I'm scared I've forgotten everything!

What about you? Are you applying to any other programs?

I'm taking ethics and A & P 1 right now.

I have a BA from before, so another option for me is to apply to ODU's accelerated program, but that costs more $$$ and I would need to take chemistry now. If I go to either TCC or TNCC, I'm set. I can just apply. I'm still trying to figure out what the best option for me is.

I'm thinking about it.

Ah. Well I have looked at the one for TNCC and I think if I apply to that, I have to take chemistry. And I really don't want to take CHM and BIO in the same semester. And it doesn't say anything about high school chemistry being a replacement for the requirement. And I am not sure if you have to have the pre-nursing certificate to apply to it. I've thought about doing to program at Sentara hospital, but they don't give you an actual degree like TCC would, and you just get a diploma. So if I ever wanted to do a bachelor's, I'd basically have to start over I think. ODU I suppose is another option for me, but I have to look into it more.
