Tidewater Community College Spring 2018

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hey everyone! Upon reading some other nursing students post that applied last year to start TCCs nursing program this Spring 2017 I figured I would make one for us students applying for the spring 2018 start. I want to get into the evening/weekend cohort so I can stay with my young one during the day and then go to class when his dad comes home but I will be applying to all cohorts. I took chemistry at ODU and received a B and have also taken HS chemistry. Attended my open house session. I have A's in ENG 111&112. B in SDV 101. This semester I took A&P I, PSY 200 and PSY 235. I will most likely get a B in A&P and A's in both PSYs. I'm taking Micro over the summer and then A&P II and PHI 226 in the fall. Applications are due August 15th. I have not taken my HESI A2 yet I plan to do it at the end of July. I bought the book the school recommended for studying for it but have not studied it much yet I plan to once this semester is over. I am so nervous about applying. I've worked SO hard and I feel like it would be so devastating to not get in. I've read some other posts and I'm nervous about not having A&P II and PHI 226 completed by the time I apply. I hope they will look at my other grades and know I will do well in those classes too. I made this post so if other students find it we can encourage each other, answer each other's questions, and keep up with each others progess- after all we might be classmates in less than a year- might as well make friends now, am I right? :) anyhow, good luck to all of us!!!!

I won't be applying again. Looking at ODU now.

I'm thinking about doing the concurrent enrollment with them if I can. That's be an awesome program to get into considering it's the BSN! Good luck to you, I would still try to apply to each. The next application period might not have as high of HESI scores...if you have good grades and everything else I would still apply

The reason I am not applying is because I can only do nights and weekends and I'm not trying to wait a whole other year just to apply. Also I am pretty sure now that I look at it that I have most of the credits to get an associates in science from TCC. And they have a transfer program with ODU.

I got into Cohort 3! Started bawling as soon as I read the word "Congratulations". I only had 5 of 9 prerequisites. My HESI was a 91, so i'm thinking they do look at the HESI the most.

Congrats! I cried too! Glad to see I'm not the only one with crazy emotions over this haha

Congratulations! I hope I get my letter tomorrow. It's killing me knowing all of you got letters today.

I got into cohort 3!! Can't wait to meet everyone at orientation and get the semester started!

I got mine yesterday! I'm in the cohort 4 for Spring!

Day 2. Nothing in the mail. I live in Chesapeake, in the Hickory area. 89.14 HESI, Straight As, BS from ODU. Still waiting.

jjnmays I am sure you will get in! I had 90.5 hesi, bachelor's and a 3.75 gpa and got in! If you don't hear something soon I would contact because mail should be getting to you not much later than it did us!

I'm sure you'll get in. Do you have your pre- and co-reqs done?

Yes I have completed everything. Applied to Nights and Weekends. Hand delivered the application. Included everything. Not using transfer credits, I retook everything at TCC over the last 2 years, including sciences. Just worried, you know how particular they are. Wondering if I did something wrong. Reviewed the application and it look perfect to me. Will see. Thanks for the support and response. Ill check back in tomorrow after the mail.
