Tidewater Community College Fall 2022

Published

Starting this thread for anyone applying for  Fall 2022  at TCC.

It’s currently 79.14 I don’t know if it’ll change anymore and I don’t think it’ll include those that have taken it last cycle that are reapplying

Ah I see it! it only says the national average though

No the national average is different that the class average score . Class average for example is 82 national is 75

OH I see the class average now!

math is : 82

reading: 85

grammar : 81

anatomy : 75

vocab: 83

chem:  73

biology : 73

critical thinking : 797

so averaging it all up, it's about a 78.8?  not including critical thinking

Hi everyone! I got a 93.43 on my HESI, and took 1 co-req (PHI 226) and about a 3.8 GPA. I hope that would be enough to get into the program! But good luck to everyone applying in the program this semester! (:

I have a question about something that was in the Nursing packet. The section titled "Beazely School of Nursing Approximate Expenditures" displays all the approximate costs during the program. Then I noticed on the fifth item, its prices for the HESI tests for a mid-curriculum test and end of program test. The end-of-program HESI exam is $400?? Are we going to take the HESI tests during the nursing program? I'm going to try to contact the Nursing advisor about this, but I just wanted to ask if anyone knows anything about this.

I’ve heard of this . So after the end of the second semester, you take a midterm ( HESI) not sure what’s on it thought ??‍♀️. Then again at the end of the program . But the last one for 400$ is the NCLEX I believe - that’s taken under HESI .

Nevermind on the 400$ exam. It’s not the NCLEX like I assumed .  ? I see the NCLEX exam is 200$ So the end of the program exam is separate to that.

Fyi speaking of costs so you are prepared now, books are not done like the guide indicates. You get the first *year* all at once. There is a paper textbook (Calculate With Confidence) but the rest is a digital bundle that you buy either from the bookstore or off of the manufacturers website and is about $1600. Again though, that's for both first and second semester, because it's the entire first year. I believe the total cost for the second year is about $600 for the books.

Don't freak out about it now. It's just something to keep in mind so you're not shocked when it comes up. If you get accepted, the bookstore has been doing something called the Cares Act, where TCC has some money from the government to help students with book costs. So that could be a thing for you as well.

Thank you !! How’s your first semester going ? What’s the schedule look like ?

it's going :) it's not bad. There's a day and afternoon cohort. I'm in the day cohort so my schedule is Monday 8a-10a NSG 200 lecture (usually via Zoom), 1p-4p NSG 200 lab (in person); Tuesday 8a-noon NSG 106 lecture and lab combined (in person); Wednesday 9a-noon NSG 100 lecture (via Zoom, no lab for this class). NSG 130 is asynchronous aka done in your own time with no scheduled lecture/lab. There are 4 12-hour clinical days this semester; mine start in March and are on Thursdays from 630a-730p (1 hour for lunch) at Maryview.
