It is 12 noon and I have to get up and dressed so I can get Nannie up and dressed. The CG will be coming today. I am not sure what I will be doing with my time this afternoon, so I'm not going to speculate. But it will be nice not to have to sit down in the den all afternoon just in case you-know-who gets a wild hair or decides to talk a blue-streak of nothingness (shoes, anyone?) Anyway, I'm just checking in and will come back by later to see what y'all are up to (page 5 ?) Have a good'n, y'all, and I will TRY to do the same!
BiL came over with my 'caregiving' check.....and HERE'S some GOOD news: He told me that he and SiL will pay for me (from Nannie's money) to have my will and power-of-attorney changes made. What a weight off my shoulders! I just really do NOT want to turn it all over to step-dgt, as it seems she has written Nannie and I off. No visits, no calls, no texts, no offers to ever help in any way. The stuff she wanted me to save for her (hubby's and some of Nannie's) is still here after nearly two years since hubby died. I wonder if I will get a text-message or email saying like she did last year, "It's been a year and I still miss him so much." Yah, right! Guess she doesn't realize her own father was about to write her off for the same reasons (no calls, no questions, no offers to help, no concern about him at all). Oh well, it's all water well under the bridge, and too bad for her! Part of me would love to be harsh enough to bring her down a couple of pegs and tell her what her dad was REALLY saying about her....even well before his alcoholism and the other things got him so sick. But I don't really want to do that, as, even though my opinion of her is poorer than poor, I am just not that cruel or vindictive. And in the end, it's hers to own, regardless. Not my clown and not my circus!.
Today I washed dishes, cleaned up the kitchen, and am washing clothes. I have a crockpot going (stew beef, onions, celery, carrots, potatoes) and if we don't want that tonight, there's tons of stuff in the freezer I can nuke for Nannie's supper. Easy-peasy! The stew will only improve in taste after sitting in itself for another day.
Well, I think it is time to switch the loads of wash around. And I have to finish gathering up the trash to go out to the end of the driveway for tomorrow's pick up. Nanny goes to daycare tomorrow. I have a follow-up appt with the audiologist at 3 PM. And then it's the dreaded weekend. To think I used to prefer and enjoy working weekends! But not like the W/E's these last forever-long years have been. Hey, y'know what? "THIS TOO SHALL PASS."
The day started rainy, then windy, and will soon rain again. I took the dogs for a looong walk. They plopped on the couch and have been snoozing for the last hour. I need to help Dh clear the deck as a fellow is coming tomorrow to pressure wash it. And I need to get some cash from the bank to pay him and can avoid sales tax, which is 10% in this state. I think II'll get fried chicken from the grocery store for dinner. I made a nice beef stew last night. I figured Dh would complain about soup for dinner, but he did not.
kittens and puppies are so stinkin' cute. If only we didn't live on such a busy street.
"so stinkin' cute" is right! It's so hard to resist them.
We called a service to come out to check the dryer. He just left, after checking it all over (the air flow was not blocked by lint, per him), and changing the three thermostats. He explained sometimes one of the thermostats will not be blatantly bad, per se, but instead of cutting off the temperature at 180 degrees, for example, it will stop at 130. Thus the clothes won't get dried due to lower temperature. So, we felt it was worth it for him to come out, and hopefully the dryer (a Kenmore from probably 1985!) will continue to soldier on!
It was cooler today, probably in the low 70's, which felt nice. I cleaned up around the dryer and swept part of the garage, and it wasn't unpleasant at all. Dh is re-parking the cars now.
Joe, enjoy your happy hour!
Have a good evening!

Tweety I don't think I've ever had dandelion greens
Stars glad you got a break from her and will get some relief today
Ado congratulations on the new cat
Dianah it could be lint build up that's causing that
Yesterday was another good day at work, ended on a quiet note. Hopefully today will prove the same. Have been calmer since I've begun keeping an eye on my tendency to perfectionism. Tricky, as it can seep into many different areas of life
After work was pretty quiet too. Tried to make a pina colada with the leftover coconut cream from last week's recipe, didn't turn out good. Realized later a pina colada requires cream of coconut, not coconut cream
Today have the happy hour with the gay group. Otherwise should be a normal day
Warmer again, up to the lower 80s
