Hello all!
Supposed to be 97 today, humidity 20%. Still too hot to be out for long, imho.
I finished my Kindle book, a bio of Louisa May Alcott. There should be a corresponding 1.5-hr PBS presentation, released in around 2009; will have to look for that.
Dh ordered some bone bridge pins, as the old bridge pins on my guitar are cracked. New ones arrived yesterday and he installed them for me. Also got some new picks, ordered after we had a "pick clinic" up in the mountains when J came to visit us. In her words, "Now that this guitar is all fixed and set up, we need to find the picks that pull out the sound the best!" So she got out her "pick collection," and played it for about an hour. Once we got home, I ordered two different kinds of picks. One set came yesterday, and they feel good and dh says they sound good. We'll see how the others do, too, once they arrive. Now I just have to greatly improve my guitar playing, to do justice to it and to the picks!
Not much else happening here. Dh is feeding the cats, they are happy about that!
Have a good day!
It's a pleasant 70 degrees here, although it feels warmer with a 65% humidity. Had a nice run at the park, but I was dripping at the end. I took pictures of the gardens that are around the homestead house in the park to show sis. She is a master gardener and has worked in those gardens for years. But not this year.
The first picture is the front of the house, then the side perennial garden, then the vegetable garden behind the house, and then the perennials on the other side. This was all underwater last November during the floods.
The cardiology visit was okay. It was with one of the cardiologists that I used to work with and have respect for. He did a much more thorough exam than I've ever seen or had done there. Sis was impressed by his bedside manner. There is still no explanation about why her heart function decreased so dramatically, but he gave hope that it will improve. She is still shaky, and dizzy at times, and has zero endurance.
I stopped by to water dd's flowers, and let her dog out of ds's house for a potty break. I ran my car through the car wash and stopped to get some kitchen items for the trailer. Laundry is started, and time to chase the vacuum.
Dh's Medicare card came in the mail! It makes his impending retirement seem real! He has been so stressed at work, so this is like a light at the end of the tunnel.
Holey-Kamoley-Kamoley, OMG, Gloriosky, and Gosh Aw-mighty! Hang on to your hats! Mark this date down in history! After I did the grocery shopping, I sat down with some collected receipts and the checkbook logs. Drum roll: BOTH checkbook logs BALANCED to the PENNY!! Unbelievicable! I am shocked, delighted, and amazed!
Nannie does not remember last night's argument, so hubby is off the hook for now. But he better not say anything to start her off again.
The Braves game is on early tonight, so we don't get to watch the local or network news. Don't s'ppose it'll hurt for one night to NOT hear about the hate and discontent in the world these past 24 hours.
Though it does kind of hurt to see the Phillies ahead of the Braves 7-1 in just the SECOND INNING! And worse still, hubby is mouthing off all of his WELL KNOWN (to us) opinions about certain players and coaches; opinions and put-downs that we are repeatedly subject to during most every ballgame! EeeeeeGADS! I do not for the life of me understand why he has to shout at the TV ... THEY can't hear him, and we are tired of hearing it. I reckon I'll end up yanking my hearing aids out again tonight. ?♀️ Deary me! The score is now up to 11 to 1, and it is only the 3rd inning. *sigh*
The last three paperbacks I got, I found out too late that I have already read two of them, and the receipt for them has already been shredded. Since I am more than half-way through the one I had not read, by tomorrow I will be shaking and drooling if I don't get another book in my hands. I have a really bad 'printed-word' addiction, and am already jones-ing!
nursej22, those are beautiful gardens, thanks for the photos! Good to hear about your sister's thorough Cardiology visit. Sometimes tincture of time is all we are given. Thanks for the reminder, I need to run the car thru the car wash!
No Stars, I see the score is now 3-12. Here's crossing fingers that the score will tip to your team's favor. I hope you can find some reading material soon (is there a library nearby??).
We participated in today's Jamkazam session. I like my new pick.
Have a good evening!
Braves lost, Phillies won: 14 to 4 (*groan*). But, Nannie went to bed right after the game was over. (*YAY*)
Did you know that sloths can't fart? Maybe it's more like they DON'T fart because their digestive system is so s-l-o-w.
Welp, the latest in the Ultrasound farce --- Hubby went to what he thought was his 9:30 AM appointment, and they said he didn't have an appt.! So they made him an appointment for July 23rd!!!
The PCP's office said they had no say so about when the ultrasound would be done at the gut doc's office. Surely to goodness they could put him on a call-list if someone cancels their appt. And the procedure does not take a long time, so why can't they slip him in for the Ultrasound? I want to KNOW, not wonder, what's causing his stomach pain and all the bloating. If it's pancreatitis, how would 'weaning' him off the booze work? I mean, *I* don't know how much he drinks. I have known a few times that he drank some to stop the hand tremors. But wouldn't some kind of 'scheduled' drinks be better toward weaning him down? Like 4 oz q 8 hrs and then 3 oz q 6 hrs, etc? I have no idea how it would work.
And another thing...I can SEE when he gets muscle spasms in his arms and legs, you can actually see them twitch. I don't know what that's about.
Whatever it is or will be diagnosed as, this "missing appointments" thing is getting on my last nerve. I'm the one who always wants to know what it is and how to deal with it; he's the one who seems to think he'll 'figure out' what is causing the stomach problems, and by making a small change it will 'go away'.
BAH!

Tweety that's an awfully long presentation
Ado writing a policy sounds like a pain
NJ22 hope you sister can get some answers
Stars hope things have settled down there
Was a less busy day at work yesterday, which was a relief. Hoping today will be a bit quieter still
Did the grocery shopping after work and ran some other errands
Woke up a bit early and didn't quite fall back to sleep. The room may have been a bit warm
Will be another warm day, in the lower 90s. Rain should hold off until tomorrow
