THR ( Texas Health Resources )/ El Centro ADN program Fall 2013

U.S.A. Texas

Published

Hello Everyone!

I am just wondering if there is anyone out there who has applied and has already gotten word about acceptance/denial/waitlisted for the THR/EL Centro ADN for this Fall? At this point, I have not received anything myself and at the location I work, no one else applied so I have no idea who my maybe classmates are!

Thanks for any feedback! :)

Well, I'm not exactly one of your "classmates" but I got my letter of acceptance into the Methodist/El Centro ADN Partnership on Friday. I think it just depends on when the hospital send over the list that they are taking!

Hi! Thanks for responding! Yes, I actually still had not received anything so I contacted the school and got confirmation that way. They told me by Wednesday they will have a new packet for me. Congratulations on your acceptance and good luck in your respective program! :)

Hey, I was also accepted intot the Elcentro THR Partnership. I am super excited to meet everyone on tuesday in orientation. My name is Jessica. What THR facility do you work at? And will you be doing your clinicals in dallas or Fort Worth? I work at thfw and will be doing my clinicals here as well. I wanted to touch base with someone else that is in the program to see if they feel as ill informed as I do. I know we will find out lots on orientation but I am curious to if you have already purchased your text books.

Shout out to all you el centro students! :) not in the THR program but about to start second semester. Good luck you guys!

Hey Jess1061! My name is Esther and I work at the Presby Allen location. I live near downtown Dallas though, so my clinicals are at THD which is awesome because it is really close to my house! I am so glad you reached out. I almost wanted to start a facebook page but I figured I would wait until I met everyone on Tuesday. Yes, everything was so last minute. I am very excited but it really was a long waiting game. As for books, I was told by Career Development that if you are benefits eligible that books will be given for free and what I am getting from bits of info is that it is going to be ecodes to Ebooks, versus hardcopies. But I could be very wrong as we haven't been given much info in that section. I am really hoping the books are free as it is super expensive. I priced it at the campus book store and it was like $1900. lol right...lol I am very excited for Tuesday and it is a pleasure to meet you!

Thanks Jessatkinson86! Wishing you an awesome second semester!

I am planning to apply to this program. I need all THe info I can get. Is work and the program do able? I am so worried about doing both. All I need is my hesi and that hprs class. Plan to attend an info session on sept 10. I have all a's in the prereqs except for micro, it is a B. please pass along any info. I work in Denton.

Hello! Most people in my current class are full time ( working 3 12hr shifts). Many of the J2's also work full time while managing their home life and school like. To take advantage of the tuition reimbursement and get books ( the books also come out of tuition reimbursement) you should at least stay part time benefits eligible (24 hrs). I don't think you should be worried. It can be done. I am doing part time and I think if you can do part time over full time that is more desirable but sometimes you just don't have a choice. I personally think with the way our schedule is this semester that it is better to work 2 12hr shifts weekends. But that is a personal opinion. I don't know if you know that the requirements changed, and they do not want college algebra anymore, instead they want statistics. Also, check on speech, I cannot remember if they said they would accept two different types. Also, you have to come up with the money first and then get tuition reimbursement so be prepared to pay out of pocket for your tuition. If you have money remaining already from tuition reimbursement then your books will be covered. But books are 1600 so be sure you have enough benefit left that you can get your stuff free in hand. Otherwise, you will have to pay for that too. And everything is ebooks so getting a tablet or netbook would be a good idea. Your lecture classes will be at Arlington and sometimes you have to drive to El Centro downtown and NLC for skills. Of course things may change a little by your class but as of now, there is a lot of driving involved. I think that is about it. So far I am very excited and the instructors I have met so far are awesome. I wish you the best. If you have any questions after the info session then feel free to ask any more questions!

I plan to stay full time. I also plan to apply for financial aid in addition to tuition reimbursement. Hopefully between the 2 I can have everything covered. I have been using tuition reimbursement for my classes at UTA. Planned to apply there but my GPA of 3.6 just won't cut it since we are no longer partnered. Thanks for all this info. I am a working mom And this program seems to fit my lifestyle. I am looking forward to the info session. Take care!

Any other info???

When are you going to apply? I know that there have been some changes for admission so you would want to make sure you get the updated packet. Also, the tuition reimbursement for books have changed so you will have to pay for the books up front and get reimbursed. The last I checked the package was 1700. I don't think anything else is different but if you have a specific question, feel free to ask away! And I wish you luck :)
