How did you get hired on as cna/pct/care partner?

Took the CNA class, passed the certification exam and worked for several months as a volunteer at the facility that eventually hired me while applying to EVERY possible job listing within an hour's commuting time from where I lived. Asked for recommendations from every instructor I worked with as a student and my volunteer coordinator. Created an individualized cover letter and resume tailored to each application; put in the time doing this as if it were my full-time job. (I have the splint for de Guervain's tendosynovitis to show the time I put in at the computer.) Kept my references updated on every job to which I applied and thanked them every step of the way. (Still do this in my heart every day and vow to do pay it back if I'm ever in the position to help others.)
