Annor, I am interested also in your "duties" at the plastic surgeons office. That is an excellent pay rate. Do you have benefits package as well? Or is it a prn-like position w/o benefits? I assume the cost of living is a little more there perhaps?
I work for a group of 5 plastic surgeons in a privately owned office/ambulatory surgery center. Been here 11 years altogether, almost 6 years as an RN, making almost $22/hr. Our benefits package is really good in comparison to hospitals in our area, not sure about other MD offices. But it seems to me we need a market adjustement as I feel our pay should be a little more (as well as some other small things to boost staff morale that I won't get into here). I also think they should take experience into consideration when we get new people. Someone w/ 20 years experience starts at the same amount as someone w/ 1 year.
We don't typically use LPNs. We only have 2 as opposed to 13 surgical techs and 17 RNs. The LPNs work only in the front office.
Anyways, RNs here work in 4 "areas": Pre-op, PACU, OR (usually as circulator) and in the office seeing patients in consult/pre-op/post-op/follow-up periods.
Overall it is a pleasant, not too stressful place to work. A few tweaks w/ pay and benefits would make it close to perfect!
Anyways, interested in hearing about your job!

The Hospital here in central Florida that granted me my scholarship starts grads at $20.00/hr base pay. I don't graduate for another 1.5 years, so it will most likely increase, so I'm told.
