third time lucky Rn Nclex

Published

It was not an easy journey, I did my nursing in England, came back to the USA towards the end of 2013, tried to write the rn nclex; my nclex first attempt was made by reading on my own, i read nclex 2000, lippincotts q&a, and sauders, however, when I sat for the exam, from the first few questions, i quickly realized that I was far from been prepared. i went all the way to 141 questions then the computer shot off.

I knew I'd fail therefore I was not surprised when the results finally arrived few days later. I was actually surprised that I got few above passing level. What I did next was to take few days to reassess myself and plan the next strategy as the goal was to pass the nclex exam, nothing else was on top of my priority list.

Then it was at this time that i heard about kaplan preparatory class, I enrolled at kaplan and I must confess, kaplan teaching was one of the best things that happened to me in terms of nclex preparation, although it was expensive, but it was worth every dollars spent, especially for nurses that did their studies abroad; then in April as my att was about to expire, I decided to quickly take the nclex exam without completing the kaplan studies plans. When I finished the exam that day, I did the pvt and got bad pop up (CC), few days I got the official results which confirmed that I failed my second attempts. However, I was not in a panic mode because and never intend to be, because I knew what my problem was, however, I knew I was in the right direction with kaplan, all I needed to do was follow their studies plans to the end.

Having failed my exam whilst using kaplan , what i did next was to call kaplan, informed them that i failed and that i needed to take advantage of their pass guarantee plans. They asked if i wanted refund or re-enrolled, I told them I wanted to re-enrol and no further questions was asked, within a short minutes got an email confirming my new enrolment with kaplan.

This third time, I took my time, did all that they wanted me to do in terms of preparation and I completed all the question bank. in addition to kaplan, i also used davis's NCLEX-RN Success, that is the book i will recommend for anyone, i read the book as well as used the cd rom for questions bank, and this book is as good as it gets.

on completion of my studies plans, i took the nclex exam 5/28/14, the difference this time was that i was well prepared, i had confidence, I have a better knowledge of the strategies and on that day, the computer shot down at 77 questions; on my arrival home, i did the pvt, and this time got a good pop up, and few days later i got the official results PASSED!! I screamed the whole neighborhood down, one of the happiest days in my life!!

The take here is to be well prepared before you take this exam, and if you study abroad, please do yourself a favor take some preparation classes and look for one supporting book, for me Davis's nclex -rn success is a great book.

I have since started working and I am enjoying every minutes of my job.

This my nclex -rn journey.

GOOD LUCK
