Hello all!! I currently just made it into my third term and I've learned so much along the way. This term I will be studying IV Therapy & Maternity/Pediatric Nursing. Clinicals have been OK so far but I'm looking forward to giving meds this term & doing so much more. I will be finished my program in the beginning of 2017! I have two terms left until I graduate! I'm looking forward to becoming a Licensed Practical Nurse. :)

great job keep up the hard work

Are you in a five semester program? Can you tell me the name of the book your, program is using for OB/PED

Yes I'm currently in a five semester program. We are using "Introduction to Maternity and Pediatric Nursing: Edition 7" by Gloria Leifer

I think we will be using the same book. I think the first test will be on PEDs. I wish I knew what chpts to read before school start back.

It's about 1.5 months before the end of my LPN program's 2nd semester and the beginning of summer break (follows the high school schedule - program located in the high school). Only 1 semester left after summer break! The year has gone by fast! Clinicals are okay (clinicals are only in nursing homes), other than daily vital signs, I've done 2 med passes so far, suctioned a tracheotomy, did 1 wet-to-dry dressing change, bolus tube feeding. We'll be giving vaccines and flu shots in the fall. I'm thankful I was recently hired at a hospital as a PCT - I've done so much more! Bladder scans, glucose checks, hooked up intermittent leg compressors, removed indwelling catheters, removed IVs. I love being in an acute care hospital environment, after 1.5 years in LTC. When I have down time, I'm following the nurses - asking to help them hang blood, saline, pain meds, and setting the pumps; change dressings; apply breathing treatments. I'm loving it! Can't wait for pinning ceremony 2nd week of January 2017!

I start my third semester Maternal/Pediatric Nursing

June 2nd. My program is exactly 18 months, a long 5 semester but I can't complain. How was your Maternity/Pediatric Class? Did you understand it well? How did you study for it? I do believe our first test will be on PEDs.
