thinking about working as a volunteer emt

hi. I'm thinking about working as a volunteer EMT while I wait for an RN position. I'm a new grad with 10 mos of experience in LTC. Unfortunately, I had to quit that position at 10 mos, because I had complications with my twin pg and the LTC facility I worked at was horrible, so I'm not going back. What do you think? Do you think my state board of nursing would look badly on this, or do you think it would be beneficial?

Would you be working as an EMT or Pre-hospital RN?

Also, are you a Basic or a Paramedic? The issue isn't really the BON rather than the lawyers coming at you as an RN when you're working solely on your EMT license.

IMO, it's not an issue of the state BON. The BON investigates and responds to serious allegations of professional misconduct. In my experience, no BON would care about why you left a job at a LTC facility. Although a future employer may enquirer into why you left the facility, I'm not sure it is legally relevant in any way. You should probably just work as an EMT, but understand that you might be held to an RN standard of care.
