Thinking about relocating Nashville area

Published

Specializes in OR, ER and PCICU.

Hi,

I am a nurse with 15 years of experience and am looking at relocating to the Nashville area. My experience in Pedi Cardiac ICU and adult/pedi OR....any thoughts of best places to work in the area? What is the pay rate in TN?

Thanks

Vandy is the lowest paying hospital in Nashville from what I have heard....Starting at around $17/hr and is now having the nurses clean Patient rooms after a discharge

here is the link to the allnurses discussion about it

"Cleaning the room after the case, including pulling your trash and mopping the floor, are all infection-prevention strategies. And it's all nursing, and it's all surgical tech. You may not believe that, but even Florence Nightingale knew that was true," said a hospital administrator to staff in a video obtained by the Channel 4 I-Team."

Vandy is up to about $20/hr now but thats for new grads. Since you have so much experience you would make much more, but I'm not sure how much.

With your Pediatric experience you should look into Vanderbilt childrens hospital. About 6 months ago they had a career fair and hired a lot of nurses (childrens hospital only). I did clinicals there and its a wonderful hospital. Oh and the nurses cleaning room is not the entire vanderbilt hospital. You should probably research it. I grew up in the Nashville area and almost everyone I know takes their children to Vanderbilt childrens in emergency situations. It has a great reputation and has magnet recognition and is a level 1 trauma center. When it comes to childrens hospitals it is the best around.

Centennial hospital is good also for pedi. Good luck on your job hunt!
