Thinking about nursing

Published

I am thinking about getting into nursing or health care. I am a new college grad and work in the IT field on the grave yard shift which I HATE with a passion. Do most new nurses have to work night shift when they begin?

***BTW, can anyone tell me how to get my body adjusted or suggest anything for me to sleep better such as a schedule

I work 7 days on 7 days off

M-f 12:30 am-9am

Sat-Sun 12am -12pm

Hi! I accidentally saw your Thread.Based on my experience,i was automatically placed in the 11-7 shift during my first year of working as a nurse. But it does not follow that all new nurses are given graveyard shift.I guess, it depends on a lot of factors. In fact you can request at what shift you would prefer to work.

Do not worry about getting a better sleep, your body will slowly adjust to your time schedule and eventually without doing anything you will achieve

a better sleep. Note: stick with your schedule.. Hope i was able to give you a sensible advice....

With your IT background, you might check out nursing informatics. :)
