I've kind of inquired about this before, but that was well over a year ago, when I was still in LVN school. It was mainly for a project we had to do. I ended up meeting with a recruiter, regular not health, and they tried to make me a corpman (is that the right spelling?).
Now I'm thinking about this again. I'm going to be starting a BSN program next fall, and should be completely finished within 2 years. So this is the time to really be looking into it.
Is it a good choice? Have any navy nurses regretted their decisions? Is it more difficult/challenging than a civilian nursing job? Whats the job like? Hows the pay?
I need to find a health recruiter in the Sacramento area I'm sure... but they'll just tell me the info I need to know, they can't give me first hand information. I appreciate any information you can give me... thanks!

you need to talk to a navy health care recruiter - not a normal recruiter. You can call your local recruiter and ask for the phone number to the local health care recruiter.. you should reach an officer and he/she should be a current nurse whom is assigned as a recruiter.. they conduct tours at san diego I would request to attend a tour after you decide that you are interested and meet requirements etc.... I think it's a great idea... go take a tour, talk to current nurses, see if it is in alignment with your work ethic, your aspirations and will meld with your family life...
good luck!
