Nurses Career Support

Published

Hi! As a late twenties person, is it too late for me to study nursing? Also, does the CA Board of Nursing allow second coursers to take up nursing? I have an accounting degree but am thinking of going back to college. Does anyone know someone who was in a similar situation and made the change? How did it go?

Many, many people start nursing school later in life. Some as late as their forties and fifties (although I have my own views on the wisdom of that).

Still in your twenties? Completely doable, if you educate yourself as to what nursing entails and you really want to take the plunge. The California Board of Nursing has no say in who takes up nursing. But definitely check out the requirements for becoming a registered nurse. It will require, among other things, a criminal background check.

If you have no other impediments, your age should not be an issue. In fact nursing requires maturity so you should be in good stead.

Agree completely with @TriciaJ. At your late twenties, you age is a benefit. Best of luck ?
