what do you think of the doctors you work with???

i am still a student, but i have had some really really bad experiences w/ doctors and i was wondering what the experiences were of nurses working w/ docs on a professional level? so everyone vent your frustration or praise them...just let me know what you think :)

oh i'm sorry if it seemed like i was intimidated by doctors..i'm not i promise:). the experiences i was talking about was basically i've met alot of docs that were just total cocky jerks..i was just hoping that that was just my experience and not indicative of the lot. also at one time i was considering going to med school and most of the students i met were not so nice and again cocky. for some reason though i've never met a mean nurse...well except for my high school nurse..lol...but i'm not afraid of docs...i was just wondering what i might be up against when i get out there. i'm glad to hear from these responses that i was worried over nothing

Yeah in the short time I've been a nurse, there's only two doctors I've come across that made me mad- and I think they were mostly having bad days. Overall, our doctors are wonderful. One was very understanding when, called for a consult, and he called to ask many questions about the patient soon after I'd assumed care, and I didn't know many answers and he was patient and walked me through what might be going on. That one experience did so much to make me feel more comfortable around doctors and much less afraid to talk with them- they are just people, and they (for the most part, the ones I've encountered) just want the best outcome for the kids. Even once when I made a med error and had to call one right away, he was very calm and kind.
