5 things you wish you knew as a new nurse

Nurses New Nurse

Published

I am about to graduate with my RN. I feel that I have a good knowledge base and that I am prepared for the job as a nurse. However, I often wonder what things I am going to learn the hard way. So for those of you who have been working for a while, what 5 things do you wish you knew as a new nurse?

Gosh, I love this thread!!!! Thanks for posting it and all who replied, I'm not even in nursing school yet, actually begin my pre reqs in the spring, but this thread has giving me alot to ponder and think about during this journey, I'm sure ALOT of this will be useful throughout my life as a nursing student as well!

Save your back and use proper body mechanics when assisting patients or bending over them to draw blood, etc. It only took me two months to wreck my back :(.
