The University of British Columbia (UBC) BSN 2023 Entry

Published

Hi everybody, I thought I'd create a thread for those who are applying to the UBC BSN program for the 2023 application cycle. Please feel free to drop any questions and share your background/experiences! ?

Just saw that post, looks like some people have been accepted?

Pretty sure the Reddit post is referring to UBCO. Their applicants heard back sometime last week! For us, we will hear back on the same day and around the same time, regardless of if it is an acceptance or not

Maybe for 4 year UBCO Nursing but they did not specify?

Did anyone see the reddit post today of someone saying they got accepted? It's confusing because it seems like nobody else heard back

here's the link: https://www.reddit.com/r/UBC/comments/13ihx9c/unable_to_decline_offer/

There is a chance this is for the UBCO program and they are in the wrong forum. UBCO has until June 1 to accept offers. It seems unlikely someone would immediately accept their offer, pay the deposit, and then decline their offer an hour later. Anything is possible though.

yeah that makes sense!

Confirmed, this is in reference to the UBCO program - not the accelerated UBC Vancouver program. False alarm! ?

I suppose that acceptance could be for the UBC nursing program in Kelowna?

Last year they sent them all out the same day. I'm not sure if they did one group first over the other though.

Hi!! I'm currently in the UBC BSN program and I was #30 on the waitlist last year. They sent out all the acceptances on Wednesday May 11th at noon, and then waitlist at 1:30pm and then rejections around 3pm-ish (I believe)

I got accepted off the waitlist on June 10th so about a month after acceptances went out. They accepted 43 I think off the waitlist

How do you like the program so far? I'be been accepted into the U of T program but I'm waiting to get a response from UBC before making a final decision.

Thanks for sharing that! I got a rejection last year, but I didn't pay attention to what time and I was overseas at the time.

There are definitely some flaws just due to how short the program is but overall I like it! I find the coursework to be a lot easier than my previous degree (Bachelor of science). Most of the instructors are amazing and our cohort hosts alot of social events and it's super easy to make friends!
The only part I don't love is that you can get placed for clinical (on a ranking system that gets randomized, basically based on luck) as far as Abbotsford (about a 1.5-2hr drive with traffic) so it's quite the commute from ubc and I got stuck far away for both term 1&2

Aside from that it's a good program! Good luck everyone!! If you have a waitlist spot under 35 or so you are pretty much guaranteed to get in!

I keep having stress dreams where I wake up thinking that the results are out ? I am also 15 hours ahead of Vancouver time currently so it gets confusing hahah
