I had a friend interview there last year and he said it was intense. You take a critical care type test and they do a lot of clinical questioning. They went over specific answers he got wrong and treated him like he was not qualified. I also heard they commented about his age (40). I hope his experience was an isolated incident.

Well, got into Akron. It was the weirdest interview, sounded like they were selling the program to me, and not the other way around. Felt as though the ball was in my court 75% of the time. Then my GF promptly dumped me. "It was the best of times, it was the worst of times..." So yeah, sort of bittersweet right now.
johnson,
I was trying to send you a message but not sure how to do that. I am applying to Akron this year and wanted to see if you could give me any words of wisdom on the interview, the classes thus far, teachers, etc. Everything you can would be great.
Did you take any of the classes before you went to your interview? How is the physiology classes? I have had phys but they are wanting me to take them again up there. Can't wait. ha Anyway, hope to hear from you soon and all the info you can give me.
I would like to know the same thing. I am interviewing in October, and I have not taken any of the core courses. I just completed my BSN with OU, and applied to Akron. I was told that the people who are already enrolled in classes at Akron have an advantage over the ones that are not.
I too have been told that the interviews are brutal. There is a 30 question test you must take first, then you interview with 3 sets of 2 people. Each interview is 5-7 minutes long, and they drill you with critical care questions. The admissions department sent me a letter with what to study to prepare for the interview. There we 3 or 4 books that are about $50-75 each.
A former coworker is in the second year of the program now. He said the toughest part of the program is the interview process, and the rest is all manageable.
Has anybody been accepted into the program without taking any of the core courses, or any grad level courses? I can't seem to find any online grad level courses that can be taken as a non-degree seeking student
Yes people in my class got in without taking any courses, I know ohio state has some grad-nondegree that transfer to Akron you can take online.
