The short notice interview?

What's up with that?

I've had my phone interview and in person interview with this imaging company. Those happened about a week apart from one another. I was told on my last interview, that they wanted me to meet with the nurse who I'd be working with.

This past Friday, I got a call from HR who is in another state and basically they wanted to know my salary requirements which is odd b/c they already had them, from my online app plus I spoke to someone else in their HR on my phone interview asking what they were looking to pay. I discussed no money on my in person interview. In fact it was an out of the oridinary interview as far as they asked no situational questions, mostly just talked about the process of what they do.

Anyway Friday the HR rep said that things looked good and it sounds like we're on the same page they apologized for the delay but needed to tweak things on their end and crunch numbers and they'd like to proceed forward so I should be hearing something by the latest, early next week (now) So today I got the call and b/c of my work schedule the earliest I would have been able to make it is Thursday as I have night shift starting tomorrow.

They then asked if I could come in this afternoon! I thought that was a little odd. I agreed and am going of course, but still it seems odd. They then said that this will bring them closer to a decision.

I was really hoping from Friday's HR talk that they were really looking at me at really getting the job, b/c I reasoned that they wouldn't be going into salary discussions and trying to crunch numbers for everyone they're interviewing. But now a step closer to a decision. I really just don't like employement games. I either like yes, or no. Not the maybes....too dang stressful. Doesn't help that I really want this. I wish I could be ambivilent.

Well make it 3 strange interviews.

This one was also short. I asked some appropriate q's to the nurse. She has no qualms that don't have a lot of experience especially not in oncology. She likes my background in my previous career. She told me she thought I'd be a great asset and that I'll fit in well.

Back out to the 1st person who interviewed me and they introduced me to everyone in the office, gave a tour explained where to put lunches and even showed me where I'll most likely be sitting!

The interview was left with that the two of them were going to talk then speak with HR about I'm guessing money. Again, no money was discussed here either! Depending on the offer (I pay practically nothing for insurance) it's looking good.

So why the heck aren't I over the moon? I keep saying I want out of patient direct care, there's not enough time to do my job the way that I feel good about...pulled in too many directions and not enough help. I want more patient teaching in a wellness role.

This is a chart reviewing position with some patient teaching on preparing for the scans. I feel a little hesitant on that.

Well...wonderful as I'm typing this HR just called and offered me the position! Now REALLY why aren't I over the moon? Maybe I'm a little afraid of leaving what I know.

Change even when good is scary. It is hard to leave comfortable even if you are totally over it. Relax, you will get oriented and do well with new position. If you miss bedside alot there is always agency on the side. Try to remember when you were new at current job and how scared you were. Letting go of bedside nursing can be a stressor as in school that area is concentrated on the most.

Take some deep breaths and make plans for your new position. Write down all the positives. You can do it.

Big changes but it is normal to feel anxious. Remember give yourself time-take the job relax and enjoy
