Does anyone else suffer from the art form known as procrastination??
I am having a horrible time trying to get over this nasty little habit of mine lol. I get all my coursework done...but I wait until the last minute to do it. I don't go out all that often, but I still find things to do to put off doing my homework. I am REALLY behind in one of my online class...but in my defense, during Febuary BOTH of my parents had major surgeries due to cancer, one of my best friends was dignosed with brain cancer and we wre told due to the placement he would prolly die during the biospy-he didn't and is just fine, for the most part, my SO's father had a reoccurence of his bladder cancer (surgery next week) AND I got sick and am having surgery on Monday that will lay me up for a bit.
The best part is that instead of doing homework I am writting about how I am not doing homework here :hdvwl:
Anyway...any ideas on how to overcome this...I know at some point soon I am going to get into classes where I CANT do this...and I REALLY don't like doing it lol

OMG!! You sound just like me... when I first started school I had the hardest time buckling down & getting the work done. Although I managed, I probably didn't do the best I could have had I not put it off so long. However, you are correct that the more into the program you get the more you'll need to accomplish.
I ended up becoming very organized by the time I finished school. I bought a pocket calendar & a big desk calendar. The desk calendar got hung on my door in my kitchen & everything appt, class, clinical, babysitter, etc went on there. It kept me sane & a quick look the night before reminded me where, when & who was going on the next day. My personal pocket calendar covered all the things on the big calendar & whatever was due for school... That way I knew when I'd have daycare, etc... to schedule lab time or when the best time to take a test would be... we usually had a week & took it in a proctored lab on the computer.
Okay... but I still procrastinated at times... in fact after I graduated I found it difficult to accomplish anything when I had a day off... I accomplished way more when I was in school... why?? Because I was queen of procrastination... I'd rather cook dinner, clean, play with my little one or anything than do homework. And to tell you the truth I don't have much in the way of advice... but maybe someone telling you that the sooner you can complete an assignment the easier it'll be on you, you never know what will come up... like your surgeries, etc...
Towards the end I began completing assignments as soon as I could & then as the semester wore on I'd have less & less responsibilities & MUCH less stress than my fellow classmates. My best advice, figure out what motivates you & use that to your advantage. My being able to do nothing on an occasional Fri or Sat night was AWESOME!!!
Good luck I know you'll accomplish your goal... one procrastinator to another!!!

I hear you!
I too have a problem with the P word.
We are on spring break this week. If I was orgnanized and thought ahead and focused I would have had all my online class work done by last Wed when my ANP class was. Instead I waited until Saturday and Sunday and had to scramble to turn in assignments that were due yesterday. I would have had a lot more free time and have cut out a large share of my spring break time. I do have a lot going on. I have four kids at home, work full time, have a husband and my dad is in ICU following a quad bypass. But, I managed to play guitar hero on the Wii with my kids quite a few times last week LOL! So in reality it is just my P habit.
I don't have any advice. I have all A's right now during pre reqs, but I worry if I will be able to change my ways come NS. It scares me a lot.
