The Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing CRNA 2023

Published

Hello everyone! I have not come across a forum dedicated to applicants for the DNP Nurse Anesthesia program for Johns Hopkins starting in the Summer of 2023. I am going to submit my application soon and I wanted to create a space for other aspiring applicants to communicate and motivate each other. I look forward to potentially starting next year! Good luck and keep in touch.

for those who got rejected or waitlisted, keep your heads up it does not mean you’re not qualified . I work with a nurse on my unit. Im way more experienced with leadership and good grades; and this nurse has no leadership at all, but he did his BSN at hopkins. He also said the interview did not go well.  He got an offer and I got waitlisted. Such is life. Keep pushing

sorry to hear you got waitlisted - however this isn’t the attitude to have either. I wouldn’t discredit the other person or their qualifications, especially if you don’t know their entire resume and everything they’ve ever accomplished. out of the 3 current cohorts at hopkins (approx. 75 students) I think there is only 1 student who studied at hopkins prior. an acceptance is such a multifactorial decision that where you got your BSN really doesn’t matter. a waitlist does not mean it’s the end of the world or that you’re not good enough, it means that there were too many people who were more than good enough - yourself included. many people got pulled off the waitlist at hopkins. don’t be disappointed in yourself, don’t lose hope, but also don’t push someone else down. best of luck to you

I am not pushing anyone down gaspasser24. There is nothing wrong to be loyal to your own. It’s actually a pretty common practice for schools to accept their own. It’s not only in nurse anesthesia program. I only mentioned this comments for the others that might have thought they were not qualified enough. And for your reference I helped this nurse with his cv.

understood that it is a common practice to accept people who have previously attended the same school - it’s just not the theme at hopkins.

the language you utilized made it seem more like you were comparing yourself to be the better candidate because you have more leadership experience. regardless, I just want to reiterate that there isn’t a certain “formula” or “guideline” as to what qualities makes someone a good CRNA student. my classmates’ experience range from 1 year - 22 years. we all bring something different to the table and we all have varying strengths. you are all beyond qualified and your day will come whether it’s at hopkins or not. best of luck to you

I agree with gaspasser24 we can provide encouraging words without tearing down another candidate. The program saw something they liked to offer him a seat and I don’t like minimizing this person’s accomplishments really is the right approach.

getting an interview already let’s you know your a strong applicant it’s just post Covid the CRNA application pool is much more competitive.

I really hope your colleague doesn’t read this thread cause I hate to hear how dismissive my colleague is being of my accomplishments.

I feel yeah. It all works out those that apply. I truly believe it.

Hey everyone. I'm still waitlisted at Hopkins but have a seat at Georgetown. My roommate might be turning down Hopkins to go to Maryland so I hope that opens a seat for someone here. Also, if anyone is planing to travel nurse here in MD til school starts, we have a room available. We will all be SRNA class of 2026 in different programs. We can all support one each other and lift each other up. Just message me if interested and good luck to all those waiting for a final answer.

Very happy for you all. This gives me hope that I may get off the waitlist?
