The HRSA Nursing Scholarship

Updated:   Published

The HRSA nursing scholarship is available now. I just submitted my application although I'm probably a long shot.

How to Apply for a Scholarship

If you're interested in pursuing a career in healthcare, you may be eligible for a scholarship through the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). The HRSA Scholarship Program is designed to support students in various healthcare disciplines who are committed to serving underserved communities and helping to address the shortage of healthcare professionals in those areas.

HRSA offer scholarships to help pay for health professions' education.

All Scholarship awardees will provide a one-year service commitment for each year of scholarship support received.

The application cycle typically opens in late Winter or early Spring and closes in late Spring or early Summer, so be sure to check the website regularly for updates.

Scholarship requirements:

To be eligible for the HRSA Scholarship, you must be enrolled or accepted for enrollment in an accredited program that leads to a degree in one of the following disciplines:

  • Nursing (including RN, ADN, BSN, and graduate-level nursing programs)
  • Nurse Practitioner
  • Certified Nurse-Midwife

You must also be a U.S. citizen, a national, or permanent resident.

Have no federal judgment liens and service commitment.

If you meet the eligibility criteria, you can apply for scholarship through the HRSA's online application system.

Scholarship award covers:

  • Tuition and Eligible Fees
  • A monthly stipend for living expenses
  • An annual other reasonable costs payment

If you have any questions about the program or the application process, the HRSA offers resources and support to help guide you through the process. Don't miss out on the opportunity to receive financial assistance while pursuing your dream of a career in healthcare and serving those in need.

Does anyone really think HRSA will actually notify via email the awardees?

Last year it came by mail -- there were papers for us to sign and send back in.

But I think the paper's you had to sign....we already signed and sent back....I hope it is by Monday!

I assume you all will post when you receive an email or letter?

Also are you all finding your essay questions on the HRSA website or did you save them before you submitted the app?

I had to submit a word doc bc I could not get my essays to fit into those crazy little boxes so I had mine saved.

I called the call center and had asked them if I should just send a word doc with everything because my essays wouldn't fit and the guy on the phone told me, after putting me on hold, that I had to have it fit in those boxes. So I trimmed my essays up, which now they don't sound as fluent as they were originally because of that. Of course, this was before I knew not to listen to a word the call center says because they really don't know anything. Oh well.

Yeah I don't know the right answer to that. I called and asked the same thing and the person I spoke to said attach a word doc. So that is what I did........who knows what was the right thing to do and who knows if they even read the dang things

I attached a word document

I also attached a word document...I didn't even attempt to put it in the box.

I just called the toll free number for HRSA and was told that the deadline for scholarship awards is September 30th, NOT August 24th.

Yeah but that is what it says on their website. We have received several emails, and someone who has posted on here that their analyst sent them that it would be 23-24. I wouldn't listen much to the call center. I was told we would get notification for the 1st email at the end of June...

Did anyone get a call from HRSA and it came up as unknown?
