The big shoe debate...what I learned

I have been a nurse for 8 years and I don't know if it is because I am getting older or what, but my legs are always hurting now after 12 hours. I recently went to a seminar for runners and was brave enough to as about the best shoes for nurses.

I thought immediately Danskos because everyone says they are so good, I was wrong. He said hoko one shoe is the best. Has anyone tried this shoe?

The reason he states it is good is because of the impact it gives.

I've never heard of that shoe. Is it the hoka one? They kind of look like the sketchers that hit the stores a few years ago. Some people swore by them. I like my Danskos after the breaking in period.

The thing with Danskos is you either love them or you hate them. I have several pair, and they are the most comfortable and most supportive shoes I own. The trouble with running shoes is that they're made to keep your hip, knee and foot all in a straight line as you run forward. Great for running, but at work you stop, sidestep, turn, pivot or walk backward. Wearing running shoes at work can lead to knee pain and knee problems. Danskos, on the other hand, let you do the stopping, starting, pivoting and turning. Try them out and see of you like them. If you don't, Sanitas, Birkinstocks, Avienda(? -- some shoe that starts with an A) are also popular. But I'd stay away from walking or running shoes at work.
