Right now, I am giving a Prayer of Thanks to God Almighty for my Great Co-Workers who have made the past Two Nights not Merely Bearable, but Transcendent!
Yelling, Falling, Head Banging, Hypoxic, Bleeding, Urine Soaked, Poopy, Confused, Delusional, Agitated, Verbally and Physically Aggressive Treatment Non-Compliant Psychotic Geriatric Patients could not deter these Team Members from Providing Exceptional Care!
MD, House Supervisor, Respiratory Threapist, RN, LPN, Techs, Security Guards, even though not Specifically Named, on MY All-Time Top List of People I want to Nominate (when they Die) to go to Heaven!
Amen!

Coworkers can make or break a shift. I always appreciate when I'm working with a good team.
Sunday night, right after the evening shift had left, several situations occurred almost simultaneously:
A psychotic Patient attacked me and I put him into therapeutic hold. Across the hall, an ex-Police Officer Patient diagnosed with Dementia heard the ruckus and attempted to come to my aid, incontinent of bowel and bladder, slipping and falling. Meanwhile, a naked psychotic Patient with Huntington's chorea was running rampant on the Unit, urinating on the floor. Another Patient with Dementia recovering from a week old hip fracture surgery who had recently fallen twice, on a 1:1, was attempting to climb out of bed, yelling at the Caregiver, "Get out of my face!"
Once again, my wonderful Peers and Co-Workers were a Godsend!
If you've familiar with the Jacob Rockstar-RN Psych Nurse Action Figure thread, you know a some of them.
Eleanor contacted the MD, informed him of the situation, got orders for the therapeutic hold, a chemical restraint, and administered the IM. Jacob Rockstar-RN was the only staff member besides Security to respond to the Code Green. Jacob assessed the fall Patient, assisted him into a wheelchair, provided hygienic measures, and put him back to bed. The third Staff Member, a Nurse Extern, let's call him Mork (Not From Ork), assisted me in dealing with the Naked Patient, spelled Eleanor from the 1:1 so she could help me deal with the physically aggressive Patient, and fulfilled his regular duties of Riding Herd on the Other Patients.
The multiple interventions were carried out professionally and gracefully!
This is the second time in two weeks I've had to send a Letter to the Unit Supervisor and Behavioral Health Director commending my Co-Workers and Peers.
Sissybee and Belinda were included in last week's Letter when we dealt with a Patient diagnosed with Schizophrenia who was suffering from impacted bowels, hydronephrosis, anuria, and a distended bladder!

Wow, and I thought I had a tough day!
Put this on my FB page last night before bed: (Edited to add - I hate how big these photos upload).

Thanks for the recognition and empathy, steph.
You can avoid the double posting of a pic by pushing the "Review Post" button, click on the image and then deleting it. The "Attached Image" will remain. The double image is a glitch with AN.com and I've discussed the problem with one of the Administrators.
To downsize the image, I use the "Paint" program and keep the width at about 500 and the length at 600. This way, the entire image can be viewed without using the slide bars.
If you have any questions, just ask Spidey. He can probably show you.
Thanks! You are right about Spidey but he was sound asleep at 0230.
And thanks for fixing the image . . .love it!
I did it again Davey - posted a photo that is too big. On another thread.
Can't find the "Review Post" button. Didn't resize it small enough.
This may be getting a little off topic, but harmoniously working and sharing information with Co-Workers is what this thread is all about, isn't it?
Remember the Cartoon Thread on the Breakroom side, steph?
Here's a post where I explained how to download, resize, modify, and upload a pic:
Basically, I Copy or Send the Photo or Pic to the Paint Program. Once there, Encompass the Pic into the "Selection" Box. Then, as described in my Last Post, use the Little Boxes on the Center Right and Lower Margins to Decrease the Pic size. With the Newer Paint Programs, you can just "Crop" the excess. On the Older Paint Programs, you'll have to again decrease the Work Area Size. Then, of course, you "Save" the Pic into a JPEG File for Sharing, etc. Now, once again, this is using the Paint Program. There are Other Programs that, like Photo Shop, that will do all sorts of things with Pics. I use The Paint Program for my Cartooning, so it's the one with which I'm most Familiar.

There's other information on that thread if you want to review it:

I remember! Thanks, I'll save that.
