Hi, everyone.
I used this site a couple of months ago, when I was preparing for my endoscopy/colonoscopy. I thought that I would return to thank Nurse "Mary" [not her real name] for taking such good care of me.
I really appreciated the fact that she was so understanding of my modesty issues, beginning when she told me to take everything off and gave me a thing that looked like a sheet with strings attached. Nurse Mary, bless her, pulled the curtain and didn't return until I confirmed that I was ready.
She also spoke to me in a pleasant, straightforward manner, at a time when I felt more vulnerable than I ever had before. She explained that she'd be covering me up and raising the side rails for my ride to the procedure room (an experience that I did NOT care for at all), and, when we got there, she explained what each machine was that she was hooking me up to, how long the procedures would last, that I wouldn't be able to talk with the mouthpiece inserted, and so on.
In short, I knew that she wouldn't let anything bad happen. When it was all over, I wrote to the doctor, mentioning "Mary Smith, RN" by name, and sent her a copy of the letter.
So thanks to Nurse Mary, and thanks to all of you nurses for all that you do.

Hi MG! I'm not a nurse yet, either (give me two years, though!), but I imagine the world needs a lot more people like you- people who really appreciate what others do and take the time to acknowledge their hard work and dedication. I'm sure you made your nurse's day- from the way it seems, the hard work most nurses do on a daily basis either goes unnoticed, or gets criticized. Just wanted to say that I thought that was really nice of you. :)

Glad "Mary" was able to help you get through your procedure. I have told patients in the past the hardest part is not knowing what is going to happen. They are amazed when it is all over and it was so easy.

I'm sure "Mary" was very touched by your letter. Wonderful that you sent a copy to the doc, too!
As a nurse, it's the thank yous that make it all worth it.
