Thank you card after interview?

I saw some people saying they sent thank you cards after an interview. Is this something everyone does which is expected? I have had a few interviews but no job yet. I have never sent a thank you card though. Is it really that important? I have another interview coming up and maybe I should do it this time?? Also, can you just send a thank you email? I have no idea what address I could send it to for some exact person within a hospital. How would you even know that?

I had a phone interview last week, an in person interview this past Friday, and I am scheduled to have a shadow interview this week. When should I send a thank you card? Should I send a thank you to the manager I interviewed with before I go to the shadow interview?

Also, I have thank you cards that I bought from the store, Nothing unprofessional, just blank cards that say Thank you on them, would that be appropriate or would regular stationary be better?

I know a nurse manager who hired people later because of the thank you cards. If she didn't pick someone for a job, but they sent a thank you card, she'd set that application aside and go to it first if another opening became available. It's good manners to send a thank you card after an interview regardless. Good luck!

I was taught in nursing school to always send a hand-written thank you card after an interview. Especially if you were the first one interviewed, it helps them remember you. I sent a hand written thank you, and a week later I got the call I got the job.
