4th try

Published

Hi this is my 4th try at taking the NCLEX the first time I took the nclex I got 265 questions the second time i took it I got 180 questions and ran out of time and the third time i got 75 questions and this was all while I was taking classes but now I'm on break and I've been studying but I don't feel like my studying is as effective. I do a system everyday and do index cards on things that I don't know or need to know. I'm using Saunders as my reference point and for questions. I plan to finish all of my Kaplan Qbank because I heard it really prepares you for harder questions. I am taking my next test on January 23rd and I feel unmotivated because of the amount of times I have taken this test. Is there anyone who has a similar experience and had a great study plan that would help? Should I be doing questions all the time instead of restudying the information? I hope to hear some feedback, this is my first post but I've been reading from this site for some time now. I'm just frustrated of not passing and want to get this done with so I can finally be a registered nurse already.

SuperSara,

Different states have different rules. I live in FL and they give you 3 tries...then require you to take a very expensive remedial course! Well, I did not have the money nor time to take the remedial course, and Georgia lets you take the NCLEX an unlimited number of times for up to 3 years after graduation. I took it in Georgia and plan to transfer my license back to FL. Look to see what your state requirements are! Good luck!

I live in NC. Maybe you only get 3 tries here... Thanks!

Hi, goodluck on your upcoming exam!! I'm sure you will do great. I just took my NCLEX-RN for the first time on Thurs...still waiting for my result from CA.

My test was all content-based and Kaplan's strategy did not apply to any of the questions. I would recommend reading 1-2 chapters from Saunders or a review book of your choice and memorize the classic symptoms of common diseases. Memorize lab values. Be familiar with some common drugs but don't overwhem yourself with every information--Just know what they treat, when to take them (day/night), with or without meal, 2-3 most common side effects. Make a schedule for yourself and adhere to it religiously from now until your test date. For me, I started my day at 9am reading over body system until 3 or 4pm...break, dinner, ect. Then before going to bed, I practiced about 50-100 questions on the systems that I studied on earlier in the day. I hope this helps and goodluck to you!!

About 8 days and I take the nclex again.. I'm kind of nervous and I'm going to be doing the 4th day of Helen Feuer Nursing review which I might say isn't bad except their homework packets for med/surg which I don't agree with but anyways, I had maternity yesterday morning and the instructor was great in explaining everything and what was expected for nclex. They are very educated on what's expected on nclex and this is the first review that has that advantage. Today I have Pediatrics which I really don't like so this will be a long day of reviewing. I just finished 100 questions on maternity and I'm nervous because I got a 66% but then again i'm exhausted. Should I be scared or just keep on going at this pace. I know I'm going to eat breath and sleep questions and review for the next week. I'm not chickening out! I can do this!

Okay so I had rescheduled my exam for monday and I have been doing questions and on my practice exam yesterday of 180 questions i got a 70%. I have been doing Kaplan Qbank and studying pharmacology based on suffixes and prefixes adn honestly that helps so much. I made index cards for the categories of meds like Cephalosporins and knew what the Prototype of that category of meds and studied side effects and it helps alot. I do questions from feuer but it doesn't help too much as I thought it would. This test is on monday and rescheduling it for a couple days made me feel a whole lot better than I'd think. I know I can do it this time around without any distractions.

Specializes in oncology/ medicine.

Good Luck, You are doing good on your practice test. Let us know how you did.

I just came back from the test that I took at 8 am this morning... I literally prayed for each question and i cried as well :S... I took 3 hours and 15 minutes for 75 questions and came home and got the good "pop up " from PVT... after three times of using that trick before I know it's legit!!! That test was hardddddd but that's a good thing when you think about.. my mind is so trained to know when i did bad on a question because it's not a priority or infection control or medication question I would sit there and close my eyes take a break and then get back to it... i'm in disbelief right now but I definately worked hard for this and I have to wait 48 hours for the official results!!... This site is amazing and thank you guys for your support without you guys I wouldn't have had this much faith in myself of passing FINALLY!...

pbaskara...so you said that you did the pvt 3 times and it redirected you to the cc page the same day after the test, and you failed? or did you have to wait several days and you kept on trying it and it lead you to the cc page? on your 4th try, it just wouldnt let you go pass the cc page? after you got your results...if you have...and passed, were you able to re-register again? or no?

please update...thanks..i've been very anxious awaiting for my test results...its been over a week now. also, the pvt wouldn't let me re-register and i keep on getting the "pop" up.

thanks

The last three times that I've taken the test I've gone straight through to the cc page on that very day which was a couple hours after the test or basically when it said delivery successful ..but this time i wasn't let through to the cc page the good"pop up" came and no it didn't let me reregister said the message it's supposed to say to contact the member board of nursing and whatnot. I'll know the official results in 48 hours but i just know inside that i passed. Wow it's been a week and no result? that's a little too long... where are you from?

NH does not participate with quick results so I have no way of finding out. did you get your results yet? how many days, if you dont mind me asking? i'm scared as hell.....emailed board over the weekend and she told me it'll be another several days...what da heck! why cant they just tell me...

i still get the "good" pop up and have been trying since the 26th. it's killin' me...

Wow I can't believe you have to wait that long well I just took the test today and I'll be getting the "official results" in 48 hours through quick results... That's pure torture to wait days for it :S... Well you get the "good" pop up so that's still a positive aspect to all of this.. =) after seeing that darned cc page the last three times I'd have to say the "good" pop is DEFINATELY a plus!!!

I wish you the best of luck but i have a feeling that you passed =D ... KEEP STRONG

Thank you for the well wishes...however, my anxiety is still sky high. As I type this, I'm at the library trying to re-study (in case). At the same token, it's very difficult to focus.

Good luck to you as well...let me know how it goes...
