Texas Woman's University-help with pre req questions

Hi Everyone, I've been reading over the posts about Texas Woman's University and I appreciate the info, however I am a little confused about the pre req requirements. I am currently attending Lone Star to get my pre reqs done and after contacting the Houston office of TWU I was told if you are not "core complete" at your transfer school you have to take the computer course, the womens multicultural class, and the math 1013 I think it was. The reason I am really wanting to find out is because I had planned on taking the Psych Statistics course rather than the Math Statistics course to save myself having to take an extra math course. However, if I do that I end up having to take 6 hrs of additional math courses. Has anyone else run into this problem? Or can you clear up exactly what the pre reqs are? Their website is confusing and I'm even more confused after talking to the rep from the school about the math requirements.

I plan on applying to both UT Houston and TWU since the both have the same basic core curriculum. I just wanted to know if anyone had applied recently or was attending that could answer the math questions for me. Thanks for your time.

Well, it looks like most of your questions have been answered - from the original post. However, just in case there is any confusion...i am currently in my second semester of the upper level nursing courses in Dallas. TWU no longer requires sociology in the core courses, speech competency is met in your upper level nursing courses (so do NOT take a seperate speech class), the computer literacy has a test out option, but you can always take it in a maymester with no problem, and the math 1013 i believe Quantitive literacy is a definite requirement now (it wasn't when i was doing pre-reqs), and statistics (math) is required-i do not care for math at all..and I made an A in the course-i do not believe TWU accepts the psych stats course. Anything else i can help with - just ask.

Hi! I'm applying to TWU nursing down the road & have got a few more core classes to take at Lone Star. I've started looking up info on all of this but can't seem to find if ALL those core classes can be transfered from Lone Star to TWU. By what I've seen it looks like they all DO transfer, but I cannot find an equivelancies chart for Lone Star/TWU!

This is probably a dumb ? but I just need it to be cleared before I go ahead and complete everything at a community college!!!

Sorry i can't be of more help with that. I took all of my pre-reqs at TWU so that i could have the 0.4 advantage added to my GPA for entrance to CON application process.

Ok that does help & I did figured it out! Thank you very much...

I've got another couple questions for anyone that may be able to help.

1st: How competitive is it to get into TWU RN-BSN program? Does anybody know any of the previous cut off statistics? I know they don't look at just GPA but if anybody knows what is important to obtain (gpa, test scores, & so on...) to get into this program it would be a lot of help. I'm also going to look at UT & even Prarie View's programs... so if you have any info on those entrance statistics let me know! I've already completed most of the pre reqs so I want to know where I'll stand after I finish with my ADN.

Also, and I'm not sure if anybody will know this, I'll probably have to talk to an advisor... but at Lone Star they offer Biol 2404 which is A&PI & II combined. I took that in Fall 2006 & got a D. In 2008 I took A&P I & got a B, and A&P II & got an A. I know that TWU takes/looks at the grade of the FIRST class, so will they only look at the D in 2404? If that's the case it would be pointless for me to even apply. And I'm not planning on starting the RN-BSN program until Spring 2012. That would be 5 years after I took 2404, so maybe they wouldn't look at it at all because of their 5 year rule?

Hi everybody new to this forum and I had a quick question. I'm thinking of applying for TWU Houston's Site for the Spring (2011) but I was confused about the Math requirement. I have taken Stat & College Algebra already a couple years ago but I talked to someone at the school & they said I still would need to take the Quantative Literacy class but I've still been looking at stuff online to see what else I need to take, do I need to take it as well as Psych Stats too if I've already had Stats & College Algebra?? I just want to make sure I have everything completed before I apply!! :) Thanks for the help!!

Is stats & college alg one class combined? they should take regular stats, too.

I'm applying for the Spring 2011 BSN in Houston for nursing program. I am core complete as well. It says the the minimum requirement for GPA is 3.0, well I'm .4 points off. If I took one of the classes again this summer (7/12-8/15) and got a better grade to boost up my GPA to pass the 3.0, do you think thats a good idea? It says they take the most recent grade. If I go forth with that and also take the entrance test and send everything in but the grade with the recent grade until grades are final and then send it right away to TWU before Sept 1 (which I believe will make it) will they accept my current GPA w/ that current grade instead of my previously GPA?

As far as I am concerned with TWU they will take the most recent grade. So any classes that you take this summer will be calculated into your nursing GPA. So if you're taking a class to better your GPA they will take the most recent grade..i.e (your summer class) up until sept 1 bc that is the deadline for the application. I am also applying to TWU's nursing program, but I am applying to the dallas campus. I to am taking classes this summer & as soon as I complete my summer classes I am going to send in the transcript & then check back with TWU to make sure they received it. Since I am not core complete at the school I'm attending, I understand I have to take Math 1013, Womens MC, and Computer Literacy. Lets say I was accepted in TWU Houston, will I have to complete the Math 1013 before the start of nursing courses or it can completed during the start of nursing courses?
