It's likely too late, but wanted to throw this insight out there. If you're considering applying or have been accepted avoid Harlingen and JPS clinical sites if possible. If you get accepted anywhere other than TWU consider rejecting TWU - program has a mid-tier ranking for a reason and can be a very frustrating experience if you're at a sub-optimal clinical sites.

Wait.. could you expand your explanation more? Why JPS and Harlingen? And is TWU not a good school?

TWU is a mediocre school. You will find schools much worse and find schools much better. They have so many students that I would argue you are fairly replaceable to administration. There are several really good professors (Pharm, A&P, OB) and ones who genuinely care but most of the rest are trash and basically self-study with a PowerPoint.  TxWes also nickel and dimes you despite being one of the most expensive programs - you will pay for ACLS/BLS renewal, if you can even get them to give you specialty rotations there is no housing support, plus cost of travel and attendance of a conference.

This is only noticeable because TCU which has a comparable class size (about 70 to TWU's 100) and tuition gives a $1000 stipend during specialty rotations as well as the ability to request more and covers relicensing fees.

I got rejected after my interview with TCU and was unwilling to wait another year to reapply so TWU is where I went. In hindsight, I would have applied to more out-of state schools and widened my search.

 Harlingen and JPS have reputations for toxic clinical environments - suffering for suffering's sake, looking for mistakes instead of looking for improvement etc. these two sites have had students moved or failed over multiple years.  I was placed in Harlingen and it can be very frustrating watching your classmates work 15 m-20 hours less a week in supportive clinical environments as opposed to what Harlingen and JPS offer. No clinical site is 100% but I've heard great things about Longview, Little Rock, and Austin. Corpus, Kansas, Denver and California seem okay but I don't know as much about those.

I am going to be at Longview did you hear good things about Good Shepherd or the other site? I'm going to Good Shepherd.

I mean this sounds like any other school. Most schools don't provide a stipend, most will still make you pay for your ACLS and PALS, maybe some don't know it cause it's already included into tuition. 

Not every school will all have amazing professors. some will be good like you said and some will just read off powerpoint and you'll have to teach yourself. sounds normal and typical to me.

@GirlyNurse1 yes Longview is a small town so there's not much to do but the hospital itself is CRNA run. The two students I know currently attending there are really enjoying their time. Longview is also a cardiac rotation site where I heard the hours are exhausting (late nights) but an overall supportive experience. 

 

@HopefulCRNA24 What's typical shouldn't necessarily be normal. I pointed out the alternative experience at a relatively similar size, location, and cost school and the difference in clinical sites within TWU to highlight that the educational and clinical experience could and should be better and more equitable. If you're happy with the experience you receive from your school power to you. I, as well as other classmates at TWU are not, but at the end of the day the finish line and the paycheck will be the same.

I got an offer!  I guess someone dropped out last minute and I was sent an acceptance email.  So happy and grateful.  It's been a long journey to get here and I am ready to be in the deep end with all of y'all.
