hopefulnurse71 said:Hey!! I have a question, as far as studying, how many chapters is each exam and how far apart are each of the exams ? Are we studying at a good pace if we study one full chapter per day?
It's not really broken up by chapter but more like by system/disorder. For example our last exam consisted of oxygenation, intracranial regulation, and nutrition/GI stuff. They give you a guide for each exam that will tell you what things to focus on. So like for oxygenation it said we should focus on respiratory distress/failure, hemothorax/pneumothorax, etc. So it's more divided into concepts than chapters which I think makes it easier to navigate and digest.
Id say on average there's probably 2-3 weeks between each exam per class but in total probably 1 exam every week to week and a half. Sometimes there can be 2 in one week but it just depends on how all of the different schedules line up.
hopefulnurse71 said:Thank you !:) can you give me a range of how many hours per week you spent studying, exams+ going to clinicals ? I'm it may vary so can you give me a range please:)
You have to do at least one 12 hour shift per week and the rest of the week varies. Most of the time I would say I study off and on from 10am-6pm doing assignments or working on learning guides. I have a rule that I don't work on school stuff on clinical days because I usually don't get home until around 8:30pm. 85% of the time I have time to chill at night and watch TV but sometimes I'm cramming for an exam, it just depends on how the rest of the week goes.
First semester sim labs are 4 hours (at least for Austin because we had a bigger group) but second and third semester they transitioned to 8 hours. 20 hours for each specialty class (mental health, peds, perinatal, etc.) that are mostly completed in 2 10 hour days.
It is possible to work ahead if you want/need to not do homework for a whole weekend or for a whole day but not frequently. The workload is pretty consistent throughout the semester.

Yes, they just sent it in the mail. You might get it in a few days. I think those types of things just take a while.
