Hello everyone!

Has anyone been accepted into the summer online program yet? I found out this morning by email. I'm so ready and super excited as well. Of course, I have a ton of questions that I wish I could look up right now.

Introduce yourselves and let's discuss...please?

Hello!

Yep, I just received my acceptance e-mail also!! My name is Sara; I live Amarillo. Graduated ADN program in 2004. I have worked in hospice the last 2 1/2 years after being out of nursing for 7 years. I love hospice and can't imagine working in any other area. It sounds like this program will keep us plenty busy. Is it my understanding then that we'll be done in December? If so, that is wonderful! I applied for the summer semester thinking I could take a few classes so it wouldn't be so hectic for the fall/spring semesters. Well, I guess the Lord has plans for me to finish up in December if that is what the schedule leads to. I just won't make any plans for this summer. Ha! I'm excited to be getting on with the program finally; it seems like it took me forever to get to this point. Good luck!!

Congrats! I live in Houston. I know it's 2 semesters, and I counted 10 classes. I had no idea we'd be done by December, I was thinking Spring. WOW! We will definitely be busy.

I received my ADN in May and I'm working in the home care setting now. I'm tired of it, but it's great for school. My love is pediatrics, so of course, my dream job is Texas Children's.

I'm planning on applying in the fall for spring 2015 because that's when I take my last 3 prerequisites. Did either of you apply while your prerequisites were in progress? Thanks.

I applied prior to my last semester at our local community college. I have taken all prerequisites there. I sent my transcript in with my application in November - and then again after I finished that semester and was registered with my final two prerequisites. I received the acceptance letter with a contingency of completing my final two classes with a C or above. So far, I have just followed all the directions from their website and did the whole "merlin" site register. I have not spoken with a person directly and have had minimal personal e-mails. I believe everything is going as it is suppose to. (I hope) I need to get my orientation completed though - that is all online and has a due date; I believe it's 2 - 3 weeks prior to first class starting. Good luck with completing you prerequisites.

You're a smart one to keep on going with your nursing education!! I think with each passing year we are out of school it makes it more and more difficult to go back. I hear many say they just don't think they could do it - especially the over 40's folks (I am in that category). But I am proof that it is doable. One step and one day at a time! That's all we have anyways..

Pediatrics!! I am SOOOO glad you love that! That takes a special person with just the right gifts. Little ones tug at my heart tooooo much. That's an area I would struggle with. I hope you do land your dream job one day. Getting your BSN should definitely help you in achieving that goal. See you in class!! :)

Yes, I'm actively taking the required nutrition class, I'll be done with it in March.

Good luck to you!

Thank you! My mom has been a pedi nurse for forever, so I've always been comfortable around medically fragile children. She's also in the "I don't feel like going back to school" club. I understand because the prereqs alone take time, and all of her children are grown now lol. I know my chances will increase significantly with my experience and a BSN on top, so I'm hopeful. I can't wait to start....and finish school.
