Hey, all

Wanted to start a thread for those applying to the Spring 2019 program.

What location will you be applying to? Anyone else in Austin?

Any information/advice from current students is appreciated!

Side note: I totally dig the red scrubs. :inlove: Haha

@atxmitch Thank you so much! That is *incredibly* helpful!

I have little ones (my oldest will be in pre-k in Spring 2021 and kinder in the fall, middle in pre-k both Spring and fall, and youngest won’t start pre-K until fall) so I’m planning on having to hire a nanny at least part time (I’m currently a stay at home mom). I’d love to hear from some of the moms if they don’t mind chiming in!

I'm in the same situation and applying to the Dallas '21 cohort. I have two little boys and one of them won't be able start preschool until the Fall. Trying to figure out options now but it's difficult since we probably won't know our clinical schedule until January.

Hello! I just graduated in December from the San Antonio cohort. I have several little children (aged 1-7- 2 NOT in school) when I was in the program. I did my clinicals at night (helped with less childcare, but left a TIRED mama) which added its own challenges. I utilized a drop in day care, nanny AND friends/family to help with childcare. It was stressful and you need them quite a bit. ESPECIALLY over the Summer. You can plan for childcare for school (exams/simulations) in advance. Then try and plan your clinicals when you can sleep the next day/have child care lined up. They are full 12 hour shift clinicals. I would also have to go to the library after my spouse got home from work (during the day/5 days a week) so that I could study.

The "specialty" clinicals (ob/psych) are not available at night, so there is a bit back and forth.

Thank you so much! Great to hear. Can you help with San Antonio schedule?

This was SO helpful. I am encouraged to see a mom of young ones go through this program successfully. Congratulations momma! I am sure you are proud of all you've accomplished last year.
