Is there a way to know where in Texas could a 2008 RN grad without experience get a job?

I'd hate to sound pessimistic, but finding a job is going to be extremely tough for an "old new grad" who completed school nearly 3 years ago and never acquired any nursing work experience during that time frame, especially in this tough economic climate that we are currently experiencing.
However, most things are possible with faith and persistence. I would focus on the small towns and smaller cities that are not overly saturated with nurses. Places like Abilene, San Angelo, Eagle Pass, Tyler, Longview, Marshall, Midland, Odessa, and Waco might be more welcoming to someone in your situation. Also, I'd focus on workplaces outside the hospital such as nursing homes, blood banks, home health, hospice, clinics, doctors offices, group homes, psychiatric facilities, etc. Many hospitals will hire the 2008 grad with 3 years of nursing experience, but they are going to be suspicious of the 2008 grad who never worked as a nurse at any time since graduation.
Good luck to you!

I agree with TheCommuter. And I too hate to be pessimestic; however, I just graduated in December so I can tell you the job market is tough. Hospitals are wanting experienced nurses as there is an abundance of new grads. Out of 10 clinical mates, only 4 of us found jobs so far. Our instructors said this is the first year they have seen it this difficult to find jobs. I went to a job fair in October and there were RNs who had graduated the previous May and December still looking for jobs. I was extremely blessed and got on at the same place where I was lucky enough to do an externship my last semester. I was the only GN they hired this semester. Two friends got jobs before graduation in a rural area, but they were both willing to either move or commute and are working nights. Good luck!

I think the only way to go without experience is for an internship. Pretty competitive in city areas...I am in Dallas and that is how is it here. I don't think there are any internships at this point, but def start looking around March and on.

I myself is also an "old new grad" eventhough I have experience working as a monitor technician they don't consider it.they are still looking for someone who has a experience as an RN for a year.. I tried applying in one of the hospital here in houston in a med/surg telemetry RN position but they called me if I'm interested working as a monitor tech. how can I have a experience as a nurse if they gonna hire me as a tech..
