TWU Fall 2013 Applicants

U.S.A. Texas

Published

Hello everyone!

I am starting this thread... a year early. That is how much I want to be accepted into the Fall 2013 BSN program at TWU in Dallas. I am taking my TEAS on August 30 so that if I have to, I can take it again the following application period (after September 1). I have finished my prerequisites (last week of Summer AP2 right now, hurray).

I hope other people see this forum so that we can all talk and encourage each other about getting into the program (and be stressed out together)! Seriously hoping that this next year flies by! I Look forward to get to know other hopefuls!

Thank you for letting everyone know, carlajeanx3! I'm scheduled for TEAS in Dec. 1st. I'm really nervous!! Especially after taking online practice test, I scored really bad, and I'm so anxious that I won't do good on actual exam.

No problem everyone! :) and Kkai, everyone says they always score at least 10 points higher on the actual exam than the online one. I scored 11 points higher. The online practice test is harder than the real thing so i'm sure you will do fine!

I took the test already and just with practicing the study guide got an 84.7% ( I know I said 84.5 a few posts back but I rechecked my scores...) Anyways, I am 95% contemplating retaking it and so I bought the online A&B practice tests and I scored a 67% on Practice Test A. WOW - that's a pretty big difference between my actual score and practice score.

So don't be nervous. You'll do well if you know everything in the study guide in detail.

It's good to hear that the actual test is harder than the practice test. It sure was hard! I really hope I can do better on the upcoming test. I get so nervous every time when I take tests. So, I'm just hoping that I can stay calm... Thanks for your encouragement!

Pls, do u think i will have a chance getting in? I still have 5 to 6 classes left, govt 1&2, history 1&2, philosophy. i want to take a computer class in d winter mini session. With that i will have the 43 hrs completed. my gpa presently is 3.9. I'v taken all the sciences. Do you all think they look at the number of classes completed?

hey all I'm also looking into applying to TWU, but the one in Houston...

the campus is BEAUTIFUL and ive been really impressed by the NCLEX exam scores for all the TWU campuses combined(as the NCLEX is the MOST IMPORTANT thing for a nursing school in my opinion) and it's annually around 95% :)

The deadline is Feb. 1st correct???

And since i am not coming from Dallas/Houston area, correct me if i am wrong but:

1. We need to apply to the TWU in Denton on applytexas FIRST, wait 2 weeks for acceptance

2. SECOND, create a profile on Pioneer Portal

3. Go to "My tools" and apply for the College of Nursing

4. Take the TEAS V or send in our TEAS V score...

Sounds right to me. Just make sure you apply to the school in time - they say on the CON website that it can take up to 6 weeks to process your application to TWU. College of Nursing Home - TWU College of Nursing - Texas Woman's University

Hello - I saw that your question had already been answered on the other forum you posted in. I believe you have to have 46 hours completed before you can apply to the CON. Your GPA sounds fantastic though. College of Nursing Home - TWU College of Nursing - Texas Woman's University has all the prerequisite requirements before applying. Good luck!

Hi! I'm planning on applying for the Evening/Weekend program at the Dallas campus Fall 2013. I've got all my prereqs done - took them all at DCCCD, and my GPA is a 3.9 and I've scheduled my TEAS for December 29. I've already been accepted to TWU, and I'll be applying to CON as soon as I take the TEAS.

I'm a returning student - I already have BA in Sociology, and an MBA. After having my daughter, I decided I wanted to become a lactation consultant. Nursing seemed like the best pathway to it, and after more than 10 years in the corporate world I'm ready for a career that will allow me to help people on a one to one basis. I started out thinking I'd get an ADN, but the DCCCD schools and their classes weren't suited for my needs. My husband is a SAHD to our two kids, and I need to work. The evening/weekend program will be perfect!

I took my HESI a couple of years ago (and a couple of days before I decided that I couldn't try to work with the DCCCD schedules, lol), and my scores were over 90 in each subject. I'm a little nervous about the TEAS. I just got my study guide in the mail this week, and took the first practice test cold. My composite score was an 82. So, I know where my weak areas are now, and plan to hit them hard. Good luck to all of us in the coming months!!!

Hello!!! Traditional program for me. That is very cool how you got started onto the path of nursing through having your daughter - that really sealed the deal for me too after I had her I knew it was what I wanted to do (the nurses were fantastic to me). Your composite score in the study guide is pretty darn good! I still am trying to get a score like that on the practice tests. Still unsure if I am retaking the TEAS or not, I'm seeking a second advisor's opinion on that, but I did pay for the practice tests haha. Good luck!! Your GPA is great!

Thanks! My mom always told me to be a nurse - flexible hours, decent pay, etc. I always thought I didn't want to be responsible for the health and welfare of another person. Then my daughter came along and I thought - what was I so afraid of?

Hi guys, is anyone here applying with 1/4 A's on first attempt science classes? Which are, just to be sure, microbiology, a&p I and II and statistics, correct?
