Moving to Houston!

U.S.A. Texas

Published

I graduated from the VN program here in California in Dec. 2003 and I haven't passed my board exam since. I took it 3 times and failed. I don't know what's wrong and I am losing hope. I am moving to Houston in a month and I was thinking about taking my board exam in there but I am not sure if I am eligible to take it since its been a while since I graduated. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can do so that I'll be able the NCLEX PN in Texas?? Thanks everyone!

Your time might be running out very quickly. In the state of Texas, you are permitted to sit for the NCLEX-PN an unlimited number of times within 4 years from your date of graduation. You state that you graduated in December 2003, and here we are in December 2007. If my calculations are correct, about 4 years has elapsed since your date of graduation.

Call the Texas Board of Nurse Examiners to receive a definitive answer to your question, as well as to discover if you have any other options. Good luck with your planned move!

I'll go ahead and move this thread to the Texas Nurses Forum so that, hopefully, others in the state can respond with useful information. Good luck!

Thanks!

but I think what I would do is that just take my board exam again here in california while living in Houston, so that when I pass my Nclex in CA, I can easily just work as a nurse in Houston...

In CA, there's no limit on how many tests you can take after you graduate the nursing program..

but now the problem i have is actually finding a job in Houston!! lol.

I'm moving in two weeks!! aww, i hope everything works out fine ;)
