Members are discussing the impact of job offers being rescinded or put on hold in high acuity units like PACU, PICU, and NICU due to the current situation. Some users have not received any communication, while others have been reassured that their job is safe. There is uncertainty about the status of nurse residency programs and concerns about future opportunities if current cohorts are full.
When does the application cycle start? I can not seem to find it on the website.
Thanks in advance!
Hey guys:) I'm putting together a spreadsheet to send out to the younger cohorts at my school with information about residencies in Texas. I'm looking for information about base pay, differentials, pay increases, sign-on bonuses, etc. so if you've accepted an offer from a hospital at TCH (or any other hospital in the Houston area) & would like to share your salary information so I can include it — you can comment or PM me. Here's my current list if you're curious & if there are any discrepancies that you know of let me know.
hi all:)
I am moving from Louisiana to Houston once I graduate in May and it was a last minute move. I only had time to apply to TCH residency and it looks like I'm out of luck:(
is anyone from the area and has any recommendations for what to do for a job until then? do no organizations here take new grads at all without the residency? mainly hoping to work at Memorial, TCH or Methodist, but I would really also just like to be employed while waiting for the next residency period.
thanks so much!!:)
I don't think so. My unit's interview is virtual. My friends who are interviewing with PICU have a 1 hour interview and 1 hour shadowing so I think it just depends on the unit
newnursesoonnn2 said:was that their very top selection choice? I'm wondering how HR is going about selecting the unit to send interview invites for/the order
Yes. I think they are doing it by unit. Everyone I know who put PICU first already heard back to schedule an interview about a week ago. I didn't hear anything up until today
They told my friend that they are basically only hiring for night shift also

Hello everyone,
I received a call from HR yesterday (3/14 for future readers) around 11am for an invitation to interview. I applied September 2023 and was not accepted, so I understand how all of you who haven't heard anything feel. TCH is just HARD to get into and it really just boils down to luck (it's truly a numbers game) and if you have significant ties to your preferred unit. If I remember correctly (please take this with a grain of salt because memories are faulty), people in my BSN cohort received interview invites up until the early portion of the week before interviews. I hope the best for all of you, just wanted to chime in really quickly.
