I applied for initial licensure as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) with the Texas Board of Nursing (BON) in November 2024. I completed my Nurse Practitioner program at a university in the United States; however, I obtained my Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree from a university in a foreign country. As a result, the BON transferred my file for an educational review by a nurse consultant in mid-April, 2025. Each time I inquire about the status of my application, I am informed that my file has been transferred and that there is no definitive timeline for when this review will be completed.
I am extremely disappointed with the prolonged process, as I have lost several job offers and seek clarity regarding the timeline for a decision. Any assistance or insight regarding my situation would be greatly appreciated.
Specializes in Vents, Telemetry, Home Care, Home infusion.
If you are living in Texas, contact your state legislator for they are best at dealing with state agencies, can submit a query on your behalf /light a fire under BON.. See TX Who Represents Me to obtain legislators name + contact info.
I passed my boards in January...I'm still not granted a license, and all of my items has been accepted, every time I call they say the same ...can't give me a timeframe! It's beyond frustrating!!
