Texas A&M HSC-Any grads or current/prospective students?

Published

Hi Everyone, I wanted to post and see if any of you are grads or hopefuls of the Texas A&M program at college station, the Health Science Center? I am currently a student at LoneStar college and I've been looking into the associates program to transfer over to the the bachelors, but after doing the figures I can do the prereqs and the bachelors program in the same amount of time. So I wanted to know if anyone has any information or reviews about the health center branch of A&M in College Station? I wasn't even aware that they had a program for nursing other than the one in Prairie View. I am also interested in UT, but I think A&M is actually going to be a closer commute. Any advice out there on getting in? So far I have a 4.0 gpa, but I have about another 3 semesters of prereqs to get done, so I'm hoping to keep my gpa in the same ballpark. Thanks so much for your time.

Just got my letter from TAMHS CON letter today, waitlisted :crying2:. Better than nothing! Does anyone have info abouth the waitlist? How many waitlister's get accepted, how many of us are there etc? Dying for information please help!

Dang! Did anyone get in? I'm waiting for the mailman as we speak...I was waitlisted for the accelerated program and the main person who usually sends the emails told me that they don't take "many" people for the waitlist and be prepared to get accepted anytime between now and the day school starts. I think if you make an appointment to talk to them in person they may tell what spot you hold on the waiting list, at least that was the impression I got from what I've read. College Station is much too far for me to go ask what spot I'm in though. Good Luck! There's still a chance!

If I was a psychologist I would do a study on the state of mind of college students waiting for admissions decisions. I think I'm going nuts! :uhoh3:

That's hilarious! Only a little while longer for your wait. Did you apply elsewhere?

this is the response i got regarding the waitlist:

"i’m not sure about an exact number on the waiting list, but it is a select group of applicants. as students decline our admission offer, we will go to the waiting list to offer admission to those students. we do anticipate admitting some students off that list."

LindsayPaige:

Did she say anything about a waiting list ranking system? Who would turn down A&M's nursing school! Is it sad that I hope some people do...:uhoh3:

That was all she emailed back. There are some that will have to turn down A&M because of $$$ or other reasons.

That makes sense, I hope no one can't go because of funding that would be awful! I'm sure that A&M isn't everyones 1st choice either. I just hope this waitlist thing isn't just false hope. :crying2: Another month of waiting it is...

Try not to get your hopes up! Don't worry, eventually it will happen for you. I've applied to Dallas community College and working on an App for UT Arlington's Online program. I'll take whatever I can get. I just saw the mailman so back to the stalking I go...

Just reading about the letters being sent out has got my adrenaline pumping. Really nervous now. Good Luck!

Just wanted to share with everyone what I was emailed back regarding the wait list:

"We have given the accepted students a deadline to respond of April 28th. After April 28th, we will be able to make final admission decisions. I would expect final decision letters to be out by the beginning of May."

Not really anything I didn't already know but when you are craving information it is something! Congrats to all who got in, and waitlister's there is still hope!
