I found on Medscape that it's only contraindicated in someone with a fever of 101 or greater. Why, it doesn't say. I know that when I did a clinical rotation to a government funded clinic that the nurse told me because of the inconsistency of visits with some of the low income or noncompliant parents, that to give as many shots as you can even if they are running a temp. as long as it isn't to high, because they may not get the shots at all if you don't give them when they are there.
