Testing average to pass? or final and overall?

Published

Hello,

Need some input from BSN students out there! Up until Med surge I, we had to achieve > 75% on the final AND all course work to pass the class.

Starting with Med surge II, all students must make >75% on the final IN ADDITION to an AVERAGE of > 75% on all tests....If you have a 75% or better on the testing average, they will then average all the course work which also needs to be >75%. The overall average and the final exam grade is what I thought was more common. Say, I have a A on all course work; I take test one and have a bad day resulting in a low test grade....test two is passing...then, I take the final exam...also getting a passing score but the test I grade made my average

I am also a BSN student. At my school, they just average all of our test grades at the end of the semester at they must average to be a 70. Of course, some tests have more "weight" than others, like finals.

And I'm not sure what you mean by course work, but we only have tests - nothing else.

As much as I hate my school, this is one area where I have found us to be lucky - not having to have a 75 and one test not blowing everything for us.

I'm in an ABSN program, and we need a 75 (74.50) avg in each class. We don't have anything but exams either, so I'm not really sure what you're asking. Finals are usually worth more than the other exams. You can get straight 75s, or a 50 on one exam and a 100 on the next (although if you get

i'm in an ADN program, but this is how ours works as well. you have to get a 73% average on the tests before they'll even take your classwork into consideration.

Specializes in ED.

ours is like you described. We have to have 77% on everything.

Im not in a BSN program, but our passing grade for all exams is an 80.
