test review

Published

Hello everybody. I am a have way through the MSN-FNP program and I ran into the problem during my last class. We always have been able to review our tests after taking them. In this class I failed 1st test but because we were able to review our answers after the test, students questioned some answers on the test and faculty gave us back the points for 7 questions. I failed 2nd test, after faculty did item analyses we were credited back points for 3 questions. After the 2nd test we did not have an opportunity to review our test results. I wonder if it is something normal that the instructor will not allow students to review their test results? Does your school have any policy regarding this issue? I did not fail this class at the end but I still would like to know what questions I answered incorrectly. Graduate schools have very strict grading criteria to pass the class and two failures – you are out of the program. I would like to hear your thoughts.

I can't imagine why students would not be allowed to view/review graded tests - how else can you learn from your mistakes? I understand that valuable class time can be wasted by allowing students to argue their position in attempt to receive credit for missed questions, but this is easily remedied by limiting the time students can review tests to outside of class time.

In other words: Tests are available for student review for (say) two days. Students with questions about individual items should contact the instructor via email to ask the question or schedule a meeting. No paper or pencils can be taken into the review room and items cannot be photographed or copied.

Hey, This sounds exactly like my school USF. They did the exact same thing to us after the second test we werent allowed to view them anymore. I think it's just laziness on the instructors, atleast in our case, they don't want to change the tests for the next class. They are afraid that people are going to cheat and share test questions with the next class. I learn more from being able to see what I missed.

if you failed the class will you get in the program easily!!
