Terrified I made the worst mistake of my nursing career!

So, long story short, 6 months without a job as a new grad, I took the first offer I got which happened to be a Rehab Hospital. 3 months of orientation went by and then my first week on my own was HELL. Three nights in a row without a break from pts calling nonstop for random things plus unstable pts needing priority with a 5-6 pt assignment. The last night, I broke down at work and was unable to focus anymore on what I needed to do. I put my two weeks in. Two weeks later, I have tomorrow to take back my resignation and continue with my employment. I do have a part time job in a three physician pediatric office lined up, but I'm TERRIFIED I made the wrong decision and I should've stuck it out. I want to pursue a nursing career in peds, but I don't know if rehab versus a peds office would be more conducive to that.

Specializes in EMS, ED, Trauma, CEN, CPEN, TCRN.

Your initial post got a lot of comments ... https://allnurses.com/first-year-after/was-dumb-decision-629453.html

I'm moving this one over to the First Year After Nursing Licensure forum as well, as this is not really a GN issue.
